Boom has definitely become a solid publisher, my favorite is Red Mother, and Something is Killing the Children. There quality of comics is amazing it proves you do not need a billion of comics on the rack for people to recognize you, just quality stories.

Boom also had a big Netflix deal earlier this year, for both live action and animated adaptation s. I don’t think they’ve announced all the series involved, but I’m excited.

While Larsen may have been curt in his response, he speaks truth. From a creative and talent perspective IMAGE is the best place to go. BOOM doesn't even acknowledge unsolicited submissions. So while they are creator owned works, they are more of an "invitation only" company, with a submission model no different than most other Publisher. While IMAGE will read any and all submissions and publish you regardless of years in the Industry, even if expereince does help your chances, its not an end all be all. Now for readers, the numbers dont lie, BOOM is doing BIG things right now. However for those of us looking to break-in with creator owned works, IMAGE is the only real viable option outside of self- publishing.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to graduate college and work for Dark Horse since most of thier stuff is action horror. But you need a team for proposals. Sucks Marvel and DC have ruined comics.

Why do I feel that image just found its rival. Because I just feel like boom is really having this creative Renaissance right now life for me image had a creative Renaissance starting in 2012. I think like last two years for boom it's been this full-blown creative Renaissance.

The reason why Boom is going off cause all the hype with deals that have been done with streaming services so people are jumping on everything that they have put out or putting out. As soon as they hype is over they will die out. In saying that i do read a couple of there titles

That's part of it, yes, but that's an investor / collector thing. The books aren't just hype, they are definitely upping their quality.

Two things Boom needs to improve: - Their website. Their series are not very well displayed. If you want to find a series, you have to sift through all their comics (or go to another website). And there are several comics missing in their database. - Their collected editions go out of stock too quickly. Some new printings are long past overdue.

I'm curious...on the topic of returnability, do retailers have to rip off the covers and send those back like back in the day before the direct market, or do they return the whole comic. And if so, what does the company do with those returned books? Destroy them? Sell them at a discount?

Vault is quite good as well. Bleed The Dry and Heist are really good. I been thinking about Once and Future and Something's Killing The Children but they were always sold out. I guess I'll catch the trades

I don't know what's going on with Boost Studios but man they are really attracting a lot of great talented writers and artists. I mean look at Tom Taylor Secret 7 Series they came out just a few days ago I just finished that first issue and it was super dope. I'm excited because now I really want to see boo Studios really push the envelope even with that deal they have a Netflix I'm hoping to God that lot of their properties that their publishing really get adapted and they have some really good people at Netflix that really understands the work and respects it be able to bring it to life.

Avatar Comics is a good indie publisher too.It's time for other genres of comics to start growing and make the industry more diverse, as in the manga we have comics for all tastes and ages.

With full returnability Comic stores are ordering for the variants so I would be interested in how that plays into things. Not sure stores are buying due to demand for this title but more for the variants and returnability of unsold books. I actually thought you would be talking more about Seven Secrets by Tom Taylor.

Boom there it is! Ive been following something is killing the children and red mother. Excited about their Keanu book! Took a chance on We only find them when theyre dead 1st issue as well. Cant wait for this space god mining stories. Oh yeah the frison variants are sooo good! Keep up the good works for both writers and artists that Boom studios have on their roster. I'm so proud of out Ewing as a writer because within the last several years he's really shown that he does have a very deep respect for the characters. Despite a few issues with an immortal Hulk and maybe one or two other series he did I didn't like but besides that he's really a talented writer. And I am so excited for his creator owned series we only find them when they're dead. Personally for me I'm really excited for the concept because it sounds very intriguing and engaging and hearing all this Buzz for its really got me excited to get my hands on the story with the first issue. I really hope that a lot of people check this series out because Al Ewing has been on fire. And with this series that he does for boom Studios that I hope he branches out into other Publishers like image Vault Comics. I really want to see his creativity on his creator-owned books. Now the artist on the book I've never really paid attention to his style so this is going to be my first introduction to his pencil work

I read some of the Firefly comics. Do they accept writer-only proposals? Cause I was hoping to be published by Dark Horse, but they only take team proposals. I'm not a super hero fan. I'm more of a Hellboy, S.H.O.O.T. First,Soulfinder, Monster Kill Squad, and Monster Hunter's Survival Guide fan.

"BOOM! doesn't do variant covers"??? When I heard that I knew this guest has no familiarity with BOOM! Studios publishing; especially since I have every comic variant to all of their FARSCAPE titles and quit BOOM! after the second 12 issue series of THE DARK CRYSTAL because of the variants. BOOM! Studios is also very hit or miss with their art quality in their comics, so would have to agree with Erik Larsen on that point. BOOM! strikes me as "not yet ready for 'primetime' viewing" on that level.
