"Old hot-rodding guys" and "purists" are two totally different breeds. Hot rodders get it and started playing the game since the 1920's. The purists on the other hand prefer to go to car dealerships and gawk at the stuff on the lot.

He’s absolutely right about the spirit of hot rodding. My grand father’s first 2 cars were rusted t bucket fords he cobbled together out of the junk yards to make one Hot rod. Built his first Harley the same way.

@skipperjenkins7651 is right on point. Kind of like the people who cry loud about somebody sitting with a field of old cars. They worry about how the cars are going to waste. They were going to scrap 25 years ago....the field saved them. Bring the money and they can be yours people.

So true, by all means we should protect the good condition originals, where they've been loved consistently over the years to not require major restoration, but if it's a choice between a rust bucket being sold for scrap value or being modified like this, I'll take this every time.

I think its cool as hell. I grew up driving Hondas, and now am starting to get into older classic domestics. I've thought about taking an old Ford and tossing an H-series or D-series into it. Their reactions are pretty much like I was thinking too! Really cool man!

Im an old dude (52) and have always been a purist on my vehicles but love to see people save any old car regardless of what drivetrain they use, better to be saved and used than rotting in a field, back yard or garage. I had a 1977 Honda Civic. It didn't have a lot of horsepower(67) but it was really tiny and really light which made it quite zippy and fun to drive. It was kind of like a four wheeled motorcycle. It also got good gas mileage which was another plus.
