If you have any other plants at all in the tub, say spouted arugula and sun flower seeds; will that take nutrients away from the dirt and cause the mushrooms to die out? And if you cut the plants to stop the growth, should you remove the dead plants to prevent the spread of slimy mold or is the whole thing a bust if you get more things growing other than mycelium? Because the birdseed i used was homemade and i didnt boil my birdseed before mixing it with the grain bag to get rid of any contaminants or kill the tap roots. I also introduced fruiting conditions way too early as i was already seeing condensation one or two days after the mixing. This is for sure an expensive and tedious learning experience, but once you figure it out i’d say it’s worth it!

I have been having that green mold. I at first thought the mold was from too much moisture. This may be a dumb question but what is the the green mold from? Also, if there is a better way for sanitation between cycles after the substrate is done im all ears. thank you and i love your videos!

I researched trichoderma, it’s common and looks like green/blue mold. It is a fungus. It eats the same nutrients as mushrooms and also can/will eat the mycelium and the mushrooms if it can. Trichoderma mold fungi appeared on top of soil of an all in one grow bag within a couple hours of cutting bag open for FAE (the cut in bag was made over 1 week after pins were visible, so it was technically during fruiting, I guess. According to my research, trichoderma exists in all soils all over the world. Mold on bread is often trichoderma and it is not harmful to humans. You can spray 3% hydrogen peroxide on it as soon as you notice it in order to slow trichoderma spread if it’s just on top layer and you want to allow your mushrooms 72 hours or less to finish fruiting. Also you can use a “torch lighter” and burn the moldy spots on the dirt or mushrooms as soon as you see it. So I used hydrogen peroxide and lighter method and then ate my mushrooms raw and I was fine. I researched and found that trich loves high humidity (as do mushrooms) but trichoderma also likes temperate about 5-10 degrees higher than some shrooms so you can decrease temp a bit to less than 75 or 80 Fahrenheit. If I remember trichoderma thrives in 80degree fahrenheit temp-or higher. Also to prevent trich from the start, wikihow website reccommends try to start soil with mushrooms friendly ph by adding lime to soil. Maybe if you notice a tiny bit starting in tiny spot the you could burn the mild with torch llighter, spray with 3% hydrogen peroxide and maybe put lime mineral or salt on cut edge of soil to make the PH of soil a bit “less friendly” to trichoderma but more friendly to mushroom. Now all this being said, it spreads quickly and can easily contaminate other bins & tubs so if you have a lot of bins & product you’ll want the contaminated one gone or in a separate space from the rest! I read that if you see the green/blue mold of trichoderma then its spores are likely already in the AIR or they will be in the air soon. I’m a beginner not an expert. This is all info I researched online. But I also tried the hydrogen peroxide and torch lighter method with success a few days ago! My crop yield was small and the mushrooms were also literally very tiny . However, I ate the little babies, raw, 3 times. They tasted as usual and were potent! (I found info through google, a website called Double Blind, several KZbin channels, wikihow, etc. I plan on burying the cake outside in private woods once fruiting/flushes have completed as long as different contamination does not occur~ especially anything dangerous to consume. I am u sure if it’s ok to bury any contaminated cake or if it’s only the trichoderma contamination that’s safe and fine since it already exists in almost every/any garden or outdoor soil. [last week was my first time trying to grow! It’s very fascinating and fun!] Good luck all ~ wishing you health, joy, and fun.

So I have a question I haven’t been able to find an answer to. It’s commonly stated in tutorials to not spray the mycelium directly. I happened to have done so prior to reviewing that fact, and *it seems* as though only after a few days post doing so, that I noticed some green/blueish areas that seemed to correspond to where there was a decent amount of standing water on the mycelium. It doesn’t stink, and after a week minimal (only several) aborts appeared and the mycelium is sort of gathering and slightly thickening around the blue/green areas. The tub doesn’t stink, and the green/blue patches don’t have any spore formation that has occurred over this week, and doesn’t quite resemble the green dusting mold I have dealt with in quite a few GS jars. Prior to this, the surface seemed healthy and white/healthy mostly across. The tub has never stunk at all.. Sorry for such a long story.. but.. could these areas simply be the “bruising” that can occur from direct spraying? I can’t seem to find any descriptions of what this bruising that is referred to in guidance to not directly mist the mycelium. My main complaint here is the mycelium entering fruiting seems to be dramatically stunted. Just looking for some tips on the bruising question and what I might try to get this thing to fruit.. :/ .. I have been misting the sides when dry daily, fanning twice per day, temp fluctuates between 70-78, have fine misted the mycelium and put a good flowing fan on it immediately after for 5-10 min every 2-3 days.. just sorta lost.

Sounds like bruising but just take a q-tip and gently swab the area. If there’s green dust on the swab it’s probably mold. If nothing’s rubbing off then it’s probably bruising. Can’t confirm from personal experience yet, but that’s what I’ve heard from several people.

Hi, I have a cobweb mold happening in my shoebox tubs , though it is producing. Should I let it carry on and get what fruit comes to maturity?
@BoomerShroomer3 жыл бұрын
You can try to spray the sub lightly with 70% isopropyl and it might kill the cobweb. I would recommend picking everything and tossing the tub. Could potentially contaminate other tubs.

Don’t touch the mould, mycotoxins can be deadly.

I know. I think the chocolate mold came from the spawn bag. But I am not sure.

Sometimes after several flushes you can't prevent mold.

Hi Ashley. Love your videos because you get to the point and speak clearly (despite your accent). But please don’t say things like, “Throw away your tub.” I had to listen more closely to hear you say that you thoroughly clean the tub and throw away everything INSIDE. I was wondering why you were throwing away perfectly good tubs.

I question this lady's abilities, mainly on the fact of, look how she cut the hole and mounting for that fan on the right.....it does nothing, no air flow.....she cut out the center....where there's no blades or air flow.....and if that's how she builds, imagine how she grows....

Girl why are you digging in that mold you are kicking up all sorts of spores and going right into your lungs. Please wear a mask and gloves when you doing this. And you're pretty lady who's super smart and I like watching your videos I don't want you to be sick.
