Feel you brother. Very complex controls, but it is really immersive this way. I loved SkaterXL, but it is so much easier than Session. Also the possibility to Primo and Casper is great. This is what it must feel like to be Rodney Mullen or Johnny Giger^^

Wow, you have incredible control in this game. Anyone that has played this knows how hard it is. The control system is as good a representation of real skating as I can imagine. Turning with the triggers still feels quite weird to me and it's difficult to be accurate but using both sticks to represent your feet works really well. This game captures the feeling of trying a trick again and again until you nail it. It's a serious brain workout at the beginning to get the basics down. It's tough to string lines together, my brain can't do it yet! Great tips, thank you!

I mostly agree but you can always tweak the settings - the difficulty doesn't have to be a big factor if you don't want that, and you can get the perfect feeling game for you. Personally, I use settings similar to Garrett Ginner (he has them in his discord) but I don't mind using auto catch since I like doing triple flips and stuff, its still really challenging but I love how you can customize everything if you want.

Yes, I'm a skater. I got this game a couple of days ago and every time I play it I am amazed how realistic it is compared to other skateboarding games. It's incredible how immersive Session is and how it allows you to pursue tricks/lines just like in real skateboarding. It just feels like it was meant for skaters.

I wouldn't call myself a skater, but I can skate. I have a handful of tricks I can do, but I'm a weekend warrior. I love Session. The pride you feel when you finally land the trick you've been trying and resetting over and over for hours is unmatched. And you watch the replay and it's not even that flashy, it's not a Skate 3 highlight, it's a real looking trick that means a lot to you because of how hard you pushed for it. Best skate game out there without question.

skater from the 90's, i've plateau'd in terms of skill but still love to ride and do flat ground tricks. Session is by far the best skate game out there, no competition!! IRL Skater here. Been following Session since it's early days so didn't have to pay full price for the full release but I'm well impressed with how it's developed. It's a tough learning curve to begin with if people aren't used to the controls but I think with what you get out of it with no DLC or mods, it's well worth it's current price. The maps are insane and the connections to real life tricks from countless videos, mags and other sources through the historical challenges really helps show how far the Devs care about skateboarding's history.

I'm a skateboarder.. been skating for about 20 years now. (actually headed to the skatepark after this video) but I played session when it was in early access when it didnt have all of these new features so I'm intrigued to possibly play it again. I will say that what I played in early access I didn't like as much as skater xl. Granted, it's a skateboarding sim but I felt like skater xl got the mix between sim and arcade style better which made it more fun for me in the end. Some of these tricks can be extremely complicated to learn and it was kind of taking away from my enjoiment of the game. I'd like to see more skating content man, keep it up!

I skated some as a young teenager, but always been a big fan of skateboarding, skate culture, the music, all of it. This game is the most realistic I’ve ever played, and pulling off dark slides is super cool. The input mechanics work to make it feel like you are doing everything you would with your feet somehow. To answer your question, I've never actually been a skater. Never had a knack for it, BUT, I have always loved watching skate videos and playing skating games. Grew up on THPS, but Skate stole my heart. I'm pretty good at it, but Skater XL came out, so I started learning it. I enjoy it, but it's a bit floaty for my taste. Been hyped for Session, but I was intimidated to learn the controls. I knew I'd love it, so I bought it today, but good God, am I struggling with it. I can tell if I stick it out and get acclimated, it'll be one of my favorite games. The few tricks I've stuck have been super rewarding. Cant wait to work on capers, primo, and darkslides! I don't even need a crazy deep story. I'm just excited about landing clean tricks. That's what brought me here. Thank you for the tips. I'm sure it'll help immensely. I loved Skate 3 and Skater XL but Session is just on a whole other level. A love letter penned by skaters for skaters. I love the challenge of flipped controls for switch and half-flipped for fakie. Such a great idea. I've sunk more hours into this game than a 30 year old should, but it's just pure joy. Teenaged me would have done unforgivable things for just such a game. I hope Gen Z doesn't take this gem for granted. Hopefully future updates include arcane boneless, fingerflips and hippie jumps, amongst other goodies.

44 years old here and still skating since 94. I recently got a Switch for my daughter (and me) after I found out Skater XL came out for Switch. A homie recommended Session though since he had both on PS5. I still bought both but I just love Session. It feels more natural and I love the classic spots that they have. I just finished the missions and now I'm working on the historical challenges. A couple of comments though : they should have explained better that you have to turn on certain features in the settings for certain missions. Or in general to play with the settings. Another example is if you have a pretty short run up you can just adjust your push setting which will give you the speed you need. Another thing is a few bugs. For a Torrey mission I needed to position a picnic table somewhere but it got stuck into the building. Find for my BS tricks but no go for FS tricks. I figured it out though ... I just built my own DIY run up for the kickflip back nose blunt or whatever it was. So in general the game is amazing, has some flaws but they're minor. Also why do I need to go to the apartment to adjust my stance? Also, couldn't they just display the list of historical challenges instead of just question marks and mark them done/not done? You basically need to just google the list ... Some stuff in there is obvious like Gino's line at the pyramid ledges or Koston's stuff over the banks wall but other stuff isn't that obvious. Some stuff that was legendary to me isn't even on that list to a little in game help would've been definitely an improvement ... Again, amazing game where the possibilities are endless especially when you're a true skate rat ...

I don't skate anymore, but I did enough of it when I was younger and still follow the pros pretty closely. The thing that stands out in the game to me is the way the board doesn't flip vertically. For example: if you do a 360 hardflip, the board will basically do a single hardflip, level out, and then do a shove-it for the last 180. It looks really unnatural so it must have been a deliberate choice from the developers. Hopefully they can figure this one out in a future update.

I used to be a skater, wasn't really good at that but I could pull out a fakie hard flip ;) As I love skateboarding I have played every skate game starting with THPS for which I bought a PS1 in 1999 specifically. I thought Skate was all we can get as it come for skateboarding video games. But then Skater XL and Session happened. Session was a bit intimidating at first but as in real life - the more you play it the better you get. I love it.

Thank you for the video, super well made and the chapters are perfect. Yeah I'm a skater in real life, and so far I love session. Got it recently for the first time and I'd give it maybe an 8/10 as of RIGHT now, I'd love to see all of the "experimental" stuff get finished and see some nice animations for getting on/off your board, but the gameplay is off the charts good right now. Minor bugs here and there, but only ones that make me chuckle. Overall I'd highly recommend it.

god I love this game, bought it last night & as a skater it hits all the marks I could want out of a game that is labeled as a skating sim, using one stick for each foot is beyond immersive and scooping and flicking all the tricks you know well irl is easy enough but learning tricks you struggle with in Session carries over the same elements you struggle with in your parking lot. anyways, thanks for handing me hours potentially frustrating practice to do lol

Yeah, I also have been consistently playing with the infamous wooden plank and wheels for about 7 yrs now, this game lets you get so technical and skate the smallest of obstacles that you wouldn't even imagine of doing in other skating games. I think this game is best for the smaller, technical tricks as opposed to bigger and faster tricks (vert and street) which I think Skate will do the best job at. All in all I think it's awesome if you have the patience for it.

After playing skater XL since it’s release on console, I finally picked up session yesterday and at first it was annoying, but since I skate in real life, I can kind of relate starting from the beginning again learning how to skate, and only a day has passed and I have noticed I can do more in session than Skater XL. There is more of a learning curve in session, but the tricks feel more rewarding. The music is better, graphics are better, your skater has an apartment , there is a weather cycle ( that you can change) , and overall physics feel more life like. One thing session needs is more real life maps like skate park of Tampa , Berrics etc, I still have much to learn, but I really am enjoying session more than skater XL 💯 🙏🏾.

I was skateboarding a lot in the mid 90's early 2000's. I do like this game. I tried Skater XXL too but it didn't felt right for me. This game is still not finished but I can see what the devs are going for and I'm looking forward to the end product. I had so much fun with this one.

Not a skater. I love Session. I didn't know anything about skating before, but I can watch videos of it and feel like I know a lot of what's going on just from what I'm doing in game. At least it feels that way.
