Hi, Ive been testing this on my single player world (pc, steam. ryzen 7600, 2070s) and I dont think its working, the production is extremely slow when Im not at the base and it drastically speeds up when I tp to my base. Also whenever Im TPing in, all the pals "Unfreeze". Not sure if this is an issue related to single player worlds? Can I ask if you guys tested this on a server? Thanks! love the content

If anyone else are having issues with this, there is a good reason he mentioned those three mining pals specifically. You can't just use any pal with the mining trait, as they need to have a lvl 2 mining trait to mine ore. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what I was doing wrong and why my pals were just wandering aimlessly or twitching in place. Placing a pal with a lvl 2 mining trait made it work perfectly.

You can mine ore with level 1 from normal stone, but you will get just small amount of it (normal stone also dropped ore).

Im a newb but figured it might help peps. thats what I'm using right now to start my second base which is mainly a ore area. feel like im gona have to redo my first base. relocate it or eventually just make a 3rd

If you don't want to drop the ore when you get back to your main base, you can use a grappling hook to pull you towards the chest! :D

Yeah, the moment me and my friend go far enough along to have a second base, I walked all the way out to spot 4, and set up a mining base and threw all of my good miners in that base, as well as a berry farm and some pal's to tend to that, so it was more self-sufficent.

At around this lvl you should look into automating a base that also contain coal, as this will soon be a vital resource. But that requires lv 3 mining skills, so digitoise, repturo or anubis are good choices. Personally i have all my miners split between anubis and repturo as anubis has lv 2 transpkrter, so they will occationally collect ores, and rapturo has kindling lv 3, which is awesome for making food, and if you put a furnace in your mining base, which is more efficient than transporting the ores to your main base. As 100 ores weigh more than 100 ores worth of ingots

Place a furnace next to the chest at mining base and use vanwyrms as your transporters as they have kindling and lvl 3 transport (with no other traits so they don't get side tracked)

Change your vanwyrms to anubis and repturo once you can breed them, those two will give you, repturo has mining 3 and kindling 3, and anu is has mining 3 and transporter 2. And once you can safely capture them, change your repturos to blazamut, for the lv 4 mining and lv 3 kindling

Additional detail that you might want to try out: If you can, you can replace the all the mining pals with Reptyro (spawned mostly East side on the volcano island, far west from the default spawn location). It hot there so prepare heat resitance gears They have level 3 in both kindling and mining, so you can have them smelt the ore they mine when they mined all the ore and is waiting for it to respawn. While leaving free kindling slot for other jobs at your main base. The con is that they're day time pal so they don't work overtime.

You can get reptury as early as you can get a flying mount by flying around the volcano area and picking up eggs, they can hatch from LARGE BLAZING EGGS (uncommon fire eggs), and farming theese eggs can also give you some huge blazing eggs aswell, giving you a high chance yo get aome very powerfull fire pals early on.

You could also just put the furnaces at the mining base. No reason to drag the ore back to base just to refine it there. Your miners will have a lot of downtime once they clear the ore, so you may as well have like, 3 fire Pals with 3 furnaces to cook all that ore. One issue I find with Tombats is, they get very unhappy when working during the day. Thing is... there's no way to control that, they work during the day on their own. I have 3 hotsprings and full beds at the mining area, and half my Tombats are still always sick or refusing to work.

Mine was whining about it's "unfair work conditions" so I shut it up by throwing it in a hot spring, that usually calms it down for a bit, except that one time it complained, I threw it in, got out, and not even a minute later complained again, and threw it in a second time, and it was fine after that.

I have this going on with a Wixen. While not actively smelting, she is transporting. Also I found I didn't need that many miners, and the transport weren't keeping up with them, so I took off a couple miners and actually set up a ranch to pop in a cow and chicken to produce more eggs for cakes to breed with with the spare slots. Throwing in one of those Wooliepops also helps with the Tombat sanity because they produce Cotton Candy pretty rapidly. It only restores 5 food, but it also restores 5 Sanity, which helps keep the Tombats going.

Sometimes the sanity bugs out i think for some pals. Just put them back in storage and then back out. Then toss them into a hot spring. It will usually fix them for a bit

And as far as I can tell, at least in multiplayer, the Pals don't mine unless you are actually there watching it happen (Because they aren't even rendered in if you're somewhere else) At some point, you have to wonder if it's just better to mine it all yourself. It may be automatic, but, if you have to be there anyway... and it's so slow...

I'm using the spawn behind the church in the red forest biome and my main base is right down the hill to the left (if looking at the church from the ores) in that huge open space. Both bases are functioning simultaneously which is very convenient. As it is though secondary bases basically are just for fun/building or convenient fast travel points. My third is in the desert near the Anubis spawn that has a ton of coal.

ive been using the pal called helzaphyre! its a nightime pal that has lvl 3 transporting and nothing else, it helps when the other mons that have transporting get a bit sidetracked as my ore farm is also my cake farm😅

If you're struggling with Tombat sanity levels because they're cranky lil babies, set up a ranch on your ore farm and toss a Wooliepop in. They produce Cotton Candy, which has a food and sanity value of 5. Because they need to eat lots to fill, they'll restore their sanity rapidly with it. I would suggest still having a berry farm though with it, because they won't provide enough to completely restore hunger. For one Pal slot though it'll help keep your base running smoothly.

I've used spot 3, and it does have the benefit of funneling invaders into one chokehold because of the pathing, so it's really easy to defend.

I use spot 1 because it's so high up, the enemies never actually reach the position and eventually just leave on their own. Alternatively a strong pal with area of effect attacks can decimate them all at once for a lot of sweet loot.

Some additions/tips: -for farming berries, get a Lyleen (planting 4, gathering 2, and some other good traits - especially medicine making 3); 1 Lyleen is enough for any base -install fluffy beds which restore sanity for your pals while they sleep; low sanity pals can get sick and won't work well/at all -at least sometimes check on the bases to take the regular berries and make them on camp fires into baked berries which also restore sanity; 3 camp fires will have you covered -Digtoise and Reptyro both have mining 3, which is ideal if your ore base also has coal for making refined ingots which *will* be needed eventually -Reptyro also has kindling 3 which is great for smelting ores into (refined) ingots -there is a good coal-ore spot in the Verdant Brook area on a mountain very close to Lily's Tower, 2 sealed alpha pals are nearby as well of which one is in a forested crater -there is a material called carbon fiber, *only* make this from charcoal (created by torching wood in a furnace) because regular coal is quite rare and needed for the refined ingots -if you have two support bases, it's a good idea that one makes only ingots and the other only refined ingots, this frees up work at your main base where you'll want to produce the actual goods -for building/crafting anything, Anubis has crafting 4 and will make pretty much anything in seconds even in large bulk which is a literal godsend of a time saver Bonus tip: You have a cooling box but your ice pal goes to sleep, thus missing the point of having a cooling box to begin with? Get a Vanwyrm Cryst, which is the only nocturnal ice pal so it never goes to bed at night (it does take breaks of course but those are quick) and assign it to your cooling box. Vanwyrm Cryst's cooling 2 is entirely sufficient at keeping your perishable goods fresh. No more losing ingredients for your cakes!

There's a big flaw with assigning Pals to the base - they don't work as well. A digtoise will only do 1 damage per hit if he's assigned to the base, but if you throw him out from your party he will do 20-30x more damage. He can, by himself, outwork an entire base of miners. That's what I do. I just throw him out and help him mine. It takes maybe 3-4 minutes to clear an entire mining area, where it might take an entire in-game day or two if you're just using Pals assigned to work in the base. The nodes will also respawn much quicker as they're being destroyed at a much faster rate.

Real info- 1.The turtle is good for ore mine, and using his pal gear to throw him out manually to mine iron. He will do 20+ dmg per tick if he is your actuve partner, but as a pal in your base he does 1 dmg to iron. Leave him to only attacking normal rocks, the quarry, or use his pal gear only. Take him with you to dungeons and mine the blue rocks as well with him, youll have sphere material for days. 2. Afking near your base is required to get pals to do anything despite what anyone says. After 20ish minutes away from base (or logged off for multiplayer, sometimes it takes longer if other players are active near your base keeping it loaded in), they will cease all actions and idle by the palbox, starving and doing nothing. Recall them before logging off on multiplayer. Youll just come back to dying pals, raids can only happen for that 20 minute window after you log off. 3. The best miners for afk iron mining is level 2+ (required to mine iron) night time pals. Night pals never sleep unless upset, and work more than any other due to this. They do more dmg to the iron than digtoise as well (20+ a hit). Thats basically it, digtoise is best used for his pal gear (basically use him as your pickaxe), He is op in that aspect. These mines arent actually automated, and misinformation is everywhere due to the game being new. Be careful out there fellow tamers~

Idk if any of this applies to my 4 man friend group that has our little co-op world. I'd find it weird for anything to continue after the host logging off. I'm playing multiplayer with a friend and the digtoise/dumuds won't mine unless someone is AT the base. We left them for a couple in game days and came back and there was 0 ore in the box. We have 2 vanwyrms out with lvl 3 transport, and they were also just not moving. Everytime we fast travel back to the base, the digotise are stuck on top of all the ore nodes and starving to death... any ideas/solutions?

Same issue I'm going through I went on reddit and someone mentioned that it had to do with fast traveling, the problem is the rendering on Xbox. (That's if you're on console) so if you'd like for your sub-base (Your ore mining base) to generate a hefty amount of ore/coal for you you'd have to not fast travel apparently, trying this out today.

I tend to find it help to build a fence around the area and a gate (always open) with a small tunnel in to the base, when you get raided the raider walk in to the gate, stop for a moment then attack when all clumped together then your Pals will basically dispatch them in seconds due to all the AOEs.

My current base for midgame right now includes Tombats and Anubis for mining, planters waterers and harvesters for berries and currently 3 Vanwyrms for smelting and transporting. Digtoise is a good team pal if you have the equipment for it but as an afk base pal I'm pretty sure it's bugged. Doing 1dmg per tick is insanely low. You're better off getting Tombats, or breeding Anubis or Reptyro if you have the right parents. Great vid, I'm glad that location 4 is getting love. That was across the river from my friend's first base and we made so many trips back and forth haha.

The Rushoar method can get many more in that amount of time, though it does require a good route, a fast flying pal, and your own time. I think it's mostly worth it myself, but to be fair I put most of my points in carry weight so maybe that's why. Just need to bring some Lunaris or Kingpaca for extra inventory

As soon as you can have a flyer grab it and a heat armor head over to the big ass volcano and farm the large schorching eggs, hatch them in the egg hatcher and hope for Reptyro, They are insane miners, and i managed to get some after hatching all my large and normal eggs, i had several Reptyro, and some vanwyrms that i breed with an ice pal, and managed to get the vanwyrm cryst, awesome transporter that wont stop and try to smelt the ore, so will let the reptyro do that along their mining. Had my mine base up and running around lvl25 and swimming in ore and coal.

The absolute best mining spot for later game is at the coordinates 192, -37 (on top of a large hill.) It has a bunch of metal nodes as well as coal nodes (which you need to make refined ingots) as an added bonus it's also probably the most beautiful spot in the game too!

if you want to have more effective collection deadream can similarly work through the night at collection i noticed that during nights your productivity slowed down due to the collectors you have needing to sleep. id swap one of the mining pals for that so that there isnt as much of a pile to pick up

1:07 I've had trouble with this method because sometimes the box doesn't give me the option to open unless I'm standing at a certain angle. My solution is to go a little distance away from the palbox, build a foundation with a wall, put the box on the foundation and then grapple to the wall. I position it so that I land directly on top of the box after release and from the top of the box it always lets you access it.

I did this a few days ago with all digtoise but they kept getting stuck on TOP of the ores and would starve and get major injuries because of this :( Going to try to setup a new one to hopefully fix it. Also, the Alpaca pal gives you more carry weight than the catss btw and you can farm the boss alpaca to the south west of the 2nd mining area you showed, closer south than west

I did a similar experiment as the one in the video and basically I've come to the conclusion that digtoise despite its mining lv3 isnt good at mining unless its in your party or used in a stone pit. Idk if its intended or a bug but the digtoise takes too long to mine compared to the tombats/dumuds and can't transport ore like them. Use digtoise if its in your party because then he will absolutely demolish nodes like nothing but in a base as an AI he isnt that useful.

I did an experiment recently, and I can assure you that step 5... well, it's SERIOUSLY not necessary. Because in this instance, unless you're also having other things at the mining base (stone pits for when the diggers run out of ore for the day, farms, etc), work speed will have very little real effect. I did three tests with a single digtortise on a mining base I had. Removed all other pals except hte digtortoise, fed it to max to prevent breaks. Each time, I would throw the tortoise onto a fresh vein, then record the time it took for it to completely destroy the vein. For the three tests, I used three settings: Normal Relaxed And Super Hard Working Here are the times I recorded for each of them (rounded up to the nearest second): Relaxed: 1:13 Normal: 1:04 S. Hard Working: 0:57 The only thing work speed seems to effect is how long per wind the tortoise takes, not how much damage it does to the vein. And even then, not by much. So on a purely mining-gathering outpost, given the other factors (sanity, food consumption, etc.) it is actually more efficient and less of a headache to just set it to relaxed, so they require less breaks and food.

U can actually spread the box more wide near the ore so the transport is faster actually. Just put the furnace next to the pal box. All will be auto available to max melt into ingut there. U can get that werewolf with horn pal in the base for tagt purpose , since it do mining transport and melting too.

around spot 4 there is another place, that has a spawn point for an enemy camp (so free pal), and a lvl 30 dungeon nearby. The terrain is not flat, but other than that, it's great. I suggest putting many bases, near each cluster of ore, that way, the carrying pals can transfer the stuff with zero travel time. Then, build the smelting at the ore base, to take advantage of the resource sharing across the base.

In fact one can build Primitive furnace and smelt ore on the spot using fire pal during visit there. Specially Jormuntide ignis is perfect for that task (although I am on pretty low level (27) I managed to get it during research expeditions in vulcan region. I found big fire egg in one spot...)

Well personaly i have 3 Digtose, One Mossanda for building stuff in base and wood, One Ragnahawk for the ingots that i make in base and one Helzephyr just to carry all the ore. The base is working like a charm

ive been meaning to do this! so far i only have 2 bases. one of em is my "main" base the other i dubbed my "breeding" base and i think i might turn the breeding base into the mining base instead. maybe if im lucky i can make it be both. i hope they make base radius's bigger too. im excited for more updates that add more pals and base items and all that stuff. im so glad too the decorative base items have character. like its not just a wood table thats empty. it has a plant and plates and forks and all that stuff to make it look like an actual home.

That's a really well-though-out group of Pals. They have just enough skills to mine, plant, water, and transport. And nothing else, which is key. And they keep up with the pace of the respawning ores. I also built a base on that spot. My Pals' skills aren't as balanced as yours, and they waste time cutting down trees. I'm guessing you placed your Palbox very carefully--my base includes several stone piles, which also wastes efficiency. My plan is to get a level 3 miner to mine the one pile of coal. So far I've been mining the coal myself. I moved the smelting to the base too, to avoid moving the coal, iron and stone between bases. But again, that added wood skills I wish I could avoid. Some times the group will cut down all the trees first, which overwhelms the Pals transporting items to the chest. I'm playing the PC Game Pass version, and for the moment the transportation Pals leave a LOT of ore on the ground while they wander around in Idle mode. One got up on the roof of the house and wouldn't come down. One question: Will your base continue to produce ore while you're wandering the world? Or do you have to be present for them to continue working? It seems like I have to visit each base once at dawn to get everyone to work. If I fast travel in later in the day, it looks like the Pals all spawn over the Palbox and start working when I show up. Anyway, excellent content, and thanks. edit: This is all in single player.

There is a hill just south of the far west side of the desert that has snow on it with a lake in the middle. There is a bill just south of the snowy hill that has ore and coal on it, so instant refined ingots

FYI, Chickens als can be used to sustain the mining base. 2 chickens give enough eggs to sustain a 14 pal base!

I found a chicken with the egg laying trait upgraded to level 3 layed more than enough eggs for feed my metal farm and i just filled it with vanworms cus the digtoise headband made the digtoise in my group farm faster than any mining pal. with the vanworms they would switch out who is smelting the metal and the rest with the tier three transport worked on colleting the ore cut way down on my feeding requirement

Put chests right next to every ore node, that way the transporters don't have to walk so far. Now put a furnace right next to the palbox. Start smelting and immediately cancel, all the ores got pulled from the different chests around the base and are now dropped on the furnace. Pick them up, fast travel.

Other than being near the base, no. An alternate solution I did was teleport to the mining spot, summon 15 level 2/3 miners, and let them work for 5 minutes, they usually clear out the entire area in that time, then put them back and just leave@@k1d942

Oh God moving bases is more of a pain than I thought... So many resources D: But thank you for the fantastic guide. I'm still fairly early in the game and don't have any ore mining Pals, but the first spot I chose has become too buggy to be used. (Parked between a cliff and a river and now that there are more pals and stuff, the pals get stuck constantly, so might as well move base to somewhere with ore for futureproofing... or maybe I can play until I can build a second base to spare myself the hassle....)

1 tip and 1 question, Tip, you can just the grapple gun to get a bit movement even while super encumbered, can be useful if you just need a little bit to reach the fast travel point or a chest etc. Question, when making these bases once the pals destroy the ore deposits, how does the ore get into chests? doesnt it just sit there on the ground and despawn eventually? or do you need to make suure you have some with the transporting skill (still unsure how most stuff works) and they then ferry the stuff to available chests is that how it works? How many transporters would need?

when upgrading pals for a mining base the ore nodes they mines scales of the damage the pals do and not their work speed, just to let people know.

I built one of these bases in game and left the game running for 4 hours. When I came back, everyone had zero sanity and either depression, weakness or an eating disorder. I had a hottub, I had berry plantations, etc, so I didn't know why this all happened. They did generate 1k pieces of ore before whatever made them lose their minds.

I’ve noticed the ore stuff wears them down more than other tasks. I just built a fully functional base and throw the pals at the ore to grab it when I come back to base. It doesn’t take too long.
