I drive often on rough gravel roads, and it helps to slow down to 15 or 20 mph, especially if you are concerned about dust and vibration. Great video, wonderful scenery.

Enjoyed it SP. The beer "commercial" brought back memories. My love of nature and particularly national parks actually began oddly enough with a beer commercial way-back-when. As a pup in the late 50s I remember a commercial by the Hamm's Brewery Co. The commercial had these pom-pom drums that went with a sort of Native American melody. A female voice would sing "From the land of sky blue wah-ha-ters." We would then see this lush scenery of snow capped mountains and lakes, and spruce forests with bears and beavers. The commercial would end with males voices repeating "Hamm's the beer refreshing, Hamm's the beer refreshing." Although TV was black and white in those days, the scenery was quite verdant and still magic to my young eyes. Years later after taking geography classes I would remember and look back at those Hamm beer commercial scenes, and figured the scenes were from the American northwest (Oregon and Washington) or Alberta, Canada after I saw the Marilyn Monroe movie "River of No Return." I also later found out that Hamm's was actually a St. Paul, Minnesota company; Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes I think. Anyway the desire to see such scenery after those early commercials took root in my soul and has never ceased. By the way, your last video was "Best Lil Fridge...in Van." I hope using those spring or brook waters to cool your brew wasn't an early indictment on that fridge that got raving reviews. Just two days ago I sent some YTers looking for an efficient fridge to your video review. Here we are one video later and now it can't handle your suds? Then again you did mention the overcast skies. But, dude, if there is ANY current/amps left you've GOT to use it all to keep those beers chilled. That's an emergency! Ah, the rock formations. Some of the smaller ones reminded me so much of the "goblins" in Arches NP, and some of the tall slender vertical ones looked like lost monochrome hoodoos, stripped of their fine rainbow colors and run out of Bryce Canyon NP. They have such an unearthly, yet hauntingly beautiful look to them. Then there's the Balanced Rock. Seems like every park these days has one on the trail somewhere. I've seen signs to this place, Chiricahua but never seriously considered going in, until now. Thanx.

the Park Srvc has some great explanation signs for the rock formations in the park entrance bldgs. This hike he shows is wonderful! Go when u can. And the campground skunks are very.... friendly. Vodka infused marshmallows keep them at bay.

There are Coatis in the Chiricahuas, if you find them they are in troops of 15 or 20 and you can watch them for hours. Fall is best.

Slim, enjoyed this video. We visited that area last spring and took the same road over the top to Portal, AZ. Forty miles of bad road (great name for a song)! Also hiked the Echo Canyon trail. It was great to see it again. The rock formations in the Monument are truely amazing. Thanks for the memory. We just bought a Chalet Alpine trailer, and hope to be doing some trips of our own this next year.

You mentioned in a previous video that you had been to Washington (where I live) but you didn’t mention which part. I live in the Pacific Northwest, near the coast. We have the most beautiful forests here! If you’ve never been here, you should see the Olympic National Forest ~ stunningly beautiful! It tends to rain a lot here, but the sun does shine at times, and then it’s truly one of the most beautiful places on earth; in my humble opinion:) Anyway, I’m really enjoying your videos ~ thank you for sharing your travels. You have great tips & tricks for your camper!

Hi Slim, ran into severe washboarding on a BC road in the mountains in Kanaskis country ... realized, like you, going slow was far worse than picking up the speed and going for it. And, at that speed, deflating the tires would not have been a wise idea. I may give that technique a try though the next time. Years ago, stayed on an island that was the northern limit for the massassauga rattle snake ... where we stayed was called, wait for it, Rattle Snake Harbour. And, yes, oodles of them ... learned to carry long sticks to probe the grass to make sure the snakes weren't surprised by us. Always look forward to your videos. Cheers, Steve

My favorite video of yours so far. I am an avid hiker and I know how hard it is to stop and capture the special feeling you get rounding a corner or seeing a particular view or pattern. You have done that in this video and I thank you. Will be heading to Arizona from Northern Ontario in the next few weeks and am eager to boondock and get some great hiking in. I spend the spring/summers in Newfoundland and invite you to explore the ultimate boondocking territory with some of the most amazing hiking trails including views of icebergs and whales (in season (june/july).

Wow, missed this one. Those are my childhood stomps. I grew up in Cochise county. One could spend years exploring there. A few points of interest there. Rucker Canyon, Cochise Stronghold, Portal and Cave Creek to the west, Wilderness of Rocks, Mount Graham nearby in Graham county south of Safford. My uncle had a USFS land lease cabin west or Portal with a creek running through the property, some of my best childhood and early teen memories come from this area.
