It is still a great film, even 60 years later. The area still has that feel it gives off in the movie too, I think so anyway. I hope you enjoyed driving through.

@@edrockefeller1757 I went there too and saw so much glass. There are three beaches but everyone was at the beach with no glass. It was perfect going to the beach that had the glass and no people around. Love the ocean!

This was absolutely fantastic!! We love visiting locations where movies were filmed and rewatching the movie. You did such a great job of finding the locations and sharing the sections in the movie with us. What a classic! Love how you added so much information and facts about the film, locations and especially about the owner and his stipulations if they wanted to film what he wanted good for him. It is so great when good things find you that was great to get those snow chains good karma is the best! This was a great video didn't want to blink you really made it very interesting . Nice job!

Aha, so when we were out in Colorado I see you were here around our home turf. Indeed, Bodega and other areas on the coast make nice getaways from the Sacramento summer heat. And "The Birds" film locations brings back so many scene flashbacks of the classic move - great job correlating those areas from the current locations that you enjoyed! And watching more of your recent YT videos it looks like you also were able to put your van conversion to good use enjoying the Redwoods and more. Happy trails until we meet again😎

Even though little remains of the locations from the movie, the look and vibe of the town is still very cool. About 20 years ago my wife and I stayed at The Inn of the Tides and ate there. A very enjoyable day on a highway 1 road trip.

60 years ago, tidal wave terror. My family and I were camping in the Doran Campground in Bodega Bay on the spit. (I don't know what it was called back then) and we were awakened by the police/sheriff? in the middle of the night, and told to immediately vacate the area and go to higher ground because a tidal wave was coming (the one that also destroyed Anchorage, AK and Crescent City, CA and Hilo, Hawaii. (I've been to those 3 places and seen the destruction). That was in 1964, when I was 9 years old. I'm 69 now, and still remember that event. I like the movie, The Birds, and have watched it a few times. My wife asks me occasionally what movie I'd like to watch with her for the evening. I seriously (jokingly) tell her I want to watch The Birds. She hates when I tell her that. John, California

Wow, I read this at 3am and fell back asleep worrying about where to park when I go to the beach next time. I had no idea about this. I looked it up and this is such good information to know. A 100 foot wave can go up to 12 miles so you need to know your zone. I’ve noticed also a lot of the spots I have camped on the beach has ZERO cell reception, I wouldn’t know where to go other than high ground but how to get there with no maps? I also saw that 50 years ago Michigan had a tidal wave too, who knew? I’ve seen the tsunami signs but never thought about them thank you for opening my eyes. PS I love The Birds movie too.

thats' it...that's all there is to see...quite dispointing acutally....the town that you romantacize barely exists.....it's odd....
@AnnettesVanTease
@AnnettesVanTease Жыл бұрын
It’s okay if you found this odd. I was actually excited to see where this was filmed. It was also a treat to be in temperatures in the 60’s rather than 100+. This movie made that area popular as indicated by the footage at the visitors center. It’s even a main topic on the Sonoma County website as I had mentioned. That’s why I picked this little town, selected this title and created this thumbnail. I was featuring ‘filming locations’ from a movie while traveling. I’d planned to go back in the next couple of months to check out the dunes and Bodega Bay Headlands but that would be a separate visit/video, not related to this cult classic. Unfortunately for this trip I only had a few hours to see what I came to see before it was time to leave. It’s still one of my favorite videos I’ve created and I loved meeting the locals, but it’s totally okay that you don’t like it and voiced that opinion.

@@AnnettesVanTease I went up there with a group of bikers thinking there was a real small town? nothing...it was very odd. Maybe i thought that Everything that was in the movie would be there....Pretty much just the school house....
@AnnettesVanTease
@AnnettesVanTease Жыл бұрын
Yes, as far as the town there wasn’t much other than a few buildings. There were spots to eat and a little grocery store five miles down the road at the bay over by The Tides. The Birds Café, and a popular oyster spot was about it for food, from what I saw. The movie was edited to make it look like the same street.

The way the movie was filmed, it implies that the school house is in Bodega Bay. It isn't, it's in Bodega which is about 4 or 5 miles inland from the Bay. It's a cool area. I used to visit there a few times a year.

I’ve always lived about 90 mins away. I can’t believe it took all these years to finally get over there. This was my first visit! Hitchcock did a good job editing. I actually cut out the clips of the school house with them getting into the car. I don’t know if he put a poster on the side of the road to make it appear the school was on that street or what but I edited it out to avoid explaining that part. Thought it could be confusing so I decided to just cut out those scenes. I think it does look creepier with the bay at the end of the school street, like in the movie.
