I’m planning on using my PS5 as my main console once I can find one, as that’s what *most* of my friends/family will be on, but I just purchased a Xbox Series S for Game Pass so I can play all of the Xbox exclusives as well as some older titles. I gotta say, I’m loving it.

I've watched the reviews at launch for both systems. PS5 was the winner hands down. Now I watch the reviews after gamers had them awhile, and almost every one of them switch positions. And that Gamepass option where you could switch from console to PC to mobile, etc..game changer. Airport layovers, trips, etc. seems idea for my situation.

At one time the viable argument was it's not the games it is the consoles to play them. Fast forward a few cycles and while one company ( Sony ) is reluctant to change, the other company ( Microsoft ) is future-proofing the gaming industry. Microsoft skipping the immature console battles in exchange for gaming anywhere on whatever you have at your disposal ends the war in every way imaginable. Make no mistake you can cry an effing river at how great your console is but neither of these companies will ever know your name. However the business model for Microsoft is moving to a more open game-playing experience not locked to a specific device, that's a benefit to any and everyone who games. Everyone expected the PS5 to be a great machine and in most instances it is, but with barely any games who cares...

I love the AA battery thing for xbox. I rarely use them but its nice to have that option, I always have a battery packed charged and swap them out so I never need to have my controller plugged in.

My series X and ps4 pro are large heavy machines, and I’m loving the series X but had to get a bigger desk to fit everything.

Great review. I just bought my Series S and I’m in love with it. So small but powerful, not that expensive and I can play a huge library of new and old games. I somewhat miss the Blu-ray player for my movies, but still think this is a great deal for anyone getting into the new generation of consoles.

I actually got the Series S to tide me over until I can acquire a PS5- Gamepass was too much of a compelling value to pass up. I’m coming from gaming on a base PS4 and a PC with an RX 580, so the Series S is a step up for me across the board. I can see myself using the Series S as my daily driver and a PS5 for exclusives- at least until video card prices stabilize and I can upgrade my PC.

I have a PS5 and I agree with all points. And yes the PS5 could be way better for 70 dollars , my R2 button went LIMP because that cheap thin spring broke inside it. I could easy fix the problem if I could find replacement springs , but still tho I only had the controller for 2 months and that's sad. I love when people point out flaws to products that I own because I also have complaints as well and I like to see if we are on the same page with the complaints or I may learn something new.

I enjoy the lay out of the sticks better on xbox, it connects to my pc and phone ect, and one of my ps5 controllers already broke. Also with the xbox i can use reachable batteries and swap them out instead of having to plug my controller in. The haptic feed back is pretty cool on the dual sense but im not sure if many games are going to do much with it and i turn my vibration off alot for comp shooters. Im usually a sucker for the cool gimmicks but that xbox controller just feels so right. Maybe if more games start to really use the dual sense i will like it more but last gen almost no games used the touch pad.

I love the features of the Series X, just like many people I didnt thought I would "quick resume" so much and it took me a little time to get used to it; due to the custom of litterally shutting down games. Now I cant live without it, same goes for moving games to a normal external harddrive within minutes.

PS also supports external HDDs... On my PS5, I've got most of my PS4 games on my external HDD, works flawlessly, this harddrive is a lot faster than what's in the PS4 originally, so loading doesn't take as long as the PS4, it does take a little longer than when they're installed on the internal SSD, but it's not as long as OG PS4. Also, PS5 boots next gen games up in mere seconds, skipping all the logos and main menu, and automagically loads your save game, I don't see a reason why anyone would need quick resume on a PS5 if the games boot this fast anyway, it's probably only useful for last gen games, which yes, can take a while on PS5 to boot up, but it's still way faster than the PS4 booting up a game.

@@whole_caveman_or_lions_den you can boot up quicker with quick resume and the exact same place you left off and the ps5 will still show some loading screens like you have to log on to the game for example spiderman you will have o load into your save slot but on xbox for example forza you can just use quick resume and go straight back into it if your bored, I not easy to explain but they are completely different and you wouldn't notice it, I got the series x and that thing is insane and I'm happy I chose it over the ps5

As stated before if you use the activity card on a PlayStation it loads you right to the main menu but then you’re right in the game, sure not as fast as Xbox but pretty damn fast and it’s every time for PS5. I’ve also noticed on my series X some games don’t like to stay in quick resume even games that don’t require an internet connection

The Series S looks amazing on my 65” LG Nano. Couldn’t be any happier. Definitely do not regret purchasing this console. Also have the PS5 right beneath it. I bought a sound bar, and a woofer. Just need the speakers to set them up in the corners around my couch. I mainly use my headset anyways for multiplayer. Surround sound for single player.

I am a Series X owner, and I will have to agree with you, the Series S is the smartest purchase for the majority of people at this time IF and only IF you also use Game Pass. There is a real lack of next gen games for all consoles, and while that state remains, then Game Pass is the way to go, and Series S makes economical sense. In 12 to 18 months the Series X and PS5 will come into their own when the big titles release and HDMI 2.1 becomes the norm.

I had PS5 & Xbox Series X day one. My PS5 is literally a dust collector since completing the lunch line-up. Had a powercut a fortnight ago, which corrupted the PS5 database which was in rest mode, after resetting the console, it then experienced problems reading the external HDD. Xbox Series X on the other hand booted back up in under 60 seconds, even my suspended quick resume games started in a few seconds! Xbox is my daily go to console, boots in seconds, Quick Resume, better controller (Elite V2), expandable SSD just works, Dolby ATMOS, VRR and GamePass just getting better every week. Received the new Xbox wireless headset today, night and day superior to PS5 Pulse 3D headset, and doesn't take up a USB port on the console either.

@@efain5028 That's because PS5 uses Bluetooth as it primarily wireless connection protocol which has an inherently longer input delay, even the latest 5.1 specification has a data throughput of a measly 380-1400 Kbps. A wireless headset connected directly to the PS5 would completely saturate the Bluetooth channel, which could cause packet loss on any input devices, controllers, mice etc. Hence why Sony needs to supply a USB audio transmitter for the Pulse 3D headset. Xbox Series consoles use a new version of the proprietary wireless connection which is over 30% faster than XboxOne wireless technology, which was already 40% than PS4/PS5 Bluetooth connection. Xbox headsets from Microsoft, Razer, Corsair etc can connect directly to Xbox consoles, as the wireless technology has the bandwidth to support the industry gold standards DOLBY ATMOS/DTS. You can simultaneously connect 8 controllers/headsets wireless to Xbox consoles.

Series s has 10gig ram and x has 16gig meaning in average series s will have medium-high textures whereas series x will have high-ultra textures. U can easilg expext better shadows volumentric clouds and better draw distance easily. Just keep in mind if u have a 1080p monitor u need to stare to find a difference. But if u have even a 1440p or 4k display or even a 1080p tv and sit near it u will see series x being sharper with better graphic.. depends on what monitor or tv u got. Series s is for those who are casual gamers and dont care about graphics and are into casual games like froza wwe fifa nba or a cheap gamepass consoles. Surely its a 300$ console lol u will get compromises in it obv. But i think if u really want a console which does better graphic or u want the bestout of ur game and more "future proof" i think get the series x. And if u play old games the def series x. As series x runs onex games which mostly ranges between 1440p-4k whereas series s runs ones version which is ehhhhhhh... mostly 720p-900p and barely 1080p. So choose wisely

A lot of the game's on the xbox series s are also on the older console's xbox one and one x and s same with Sony's ps5 and ps4 ps4 Pro ps4 slim there is no need to get a newer console right now the only reason to upgrade is because of the higher fps and resolution the xbox series s all though it has Ray tracing it is too weak to use it so if you are buying it for Ray tracing you will be disappointed and plus it only run's game's which is not that much higher then the xbox one x all though it is beasty for 350/300

As a PS5 owner I have been more impressed by the Series S than the Series X. For half the price you get 1440P graphics and the similar processing speed of the Series X. I’m planning to get one just for game pass. As far as the PS5 controller, I have 2 controllers so battery life is not an issue. Both consoles are great for me.

As a Series X owner with a ton of physical and some digital Xbox One games the Series X is best with 1 tb of storage, full Xbox One and beyond backwards compatibility, and all the enhancements like auto hdr and fps boost. It’s a big jump graphically from a base Xbox One, which would’ve not felt as big if I got a Series S. I have Blu-rays and DVDs too that I use my Xbox for. Enjoy your PS5/Series S though! I think the S is the easiest to find out of the three (I actually bought and sold one in December), so you should be able to get your hands on one.

I am a PROUD owner of both last gen consoles though, base consoles. PS4 "Uncharted 4 Edition" and big ugly XBox One 2014 console. I have owned EVERY XBox until this gen. So, isn't it funny you assume. The fact the PS5 DOES look lie a router is still a better look than the Series S. No real design thought put into it, just like the Series X. It doesn't stand out. @@sgunique5246 The jump from 30 to 60fps is very visible, the jump from 60 to 120fps is a lot less visible as 60 is already a lot smoother and human eyes don't see a big difference between 60 and 120fps. Yes it'll be a little bit smoother, but I personally wouldn't sacrifice GFX quality to go higher than 60fps.

This feature allows you to switch between different games in a short amount of time. I mean that's a really good feature and with the gamepass you can play every game you want. The ps5 in the other hand got more exclusives and is the bigger platform. It's up to you buddy 😉

Nah I’d say it aged pretty well. The PS5 barely has any real exclusives. (Don’t give me a list of ps4 exclusives that I’ve already played btw lmao). I’ve owned the PS5 after selling my Series X and I’ve regretted it. I recently bought a Series S and I’ve enjoyed it. The internet connection is reliable despite being the furthest from my router. The party chat works much better than the PS5. The UI is always smooth no matter what. And I don’t have to worry about a power outage “corrupting” the SSD. The PS5 controller does feel better when I’m playing shooters, but the Xbox controller lasts way longer than the PS5. And it’s way more convenient to just swap the batteries than constantly changing them.

you forgot to mention that you can connect an external SSD and play games off of it, which is a much cheaper solution. The only games that you have to run on the internal are the exclusives and there are not that many atm. And you can move from external to internal very fast, so store everything on a SSD external and transfer the ones that need to run on the internal over and back as needed. the Velocity architecture allows this.

To illustrate this point, I've had the PS5 since March 2021 and just picked up a Series S with Game Pass Ultimate. The Series S and Game Pass have filled the void that PS5 couldn't of having wonderful co-op games that I can play with my son (Halo: Infinite) and wife (It Takes Two...free on Game Pass) as well as my overwhelming desire to play an awesome racing game (Forza Horizon: 5). Also, the size is so much more useful than I thought it would be. I often game in my room, office or living room and moving it from place to place is incredibly easy. Yes, graphics are important and if I didn't already own a PS5, I would have waited to get the Series X, but that has not taken away from my experience. At the end of the day, games are supposed to be fun and the Series S has proven to be a lot more fun for me than the PS5.

AWESOME video you made Booredatwork and I feel you on everything you have said Red‼i did buy the very first Xbox one then ps4 then ps4 pro. I wasn’t feeling it that much on the Xbox one as to compared to the ps4. Though my ps4 would over heat sounding like a hair blow dryer which is my big gripe about it over the silent Xbox one. I have been a fan of Sony since PlayStation 1 up to PS4 pro. My second to last ps4 controller I bought that was less than a month old, I dropped it on the kitchen floor and since then playing my all time favorite bo3 zombies. Once I got into the game I started having joystick problems in the controller and as it being new. I had a very old ps4 controller eventually do that. After launch a waited a year to see how to see how the still out of stock ps5 was doing. Lots of people had complained about the ps5 controllers while them being new especially not dropped and having joystick drift con issues. Just recently I saw Sony is starting to go cheaper on the heat sink for the ps5 probably because it costs too much to make. People all said they would rather just have the old launch PS5 with the original heat sink. After you mentioned all your problems with the ps5, really makes DEFINITELY become a ONE LESS SONY CUSTOMER FOR LIFETIME just only for gaming consoles. I just OVERALL feel SONY was NOT ready this WHOLE time up to this day to release the PS5. That console looks like the the very OLD PS3 due to the size 😂. My friend I worked at a Hispanic grocery store since 2012 eventually got me into buying and playing XBOX. Once I traded the very first xbox one console I ONLY played on throughout my entire life for the ONLY console that was in stalk at GameStop which was the SERIES S DIGITAL I couldn’t of have been happier that day. Knowing that I got $160 in store credit back to put towards the Series S digital that I paid $168 for once I did the trade in‼So yes after taxes we are paying $350 for the console, you were correct in your video. Since playing on my Series S I had NO issues with the console and since Christmas last year when I bought it. I do love the putting double rechargeable AA batteries in my controllers and they would last weeks up to 3 months before I have to change them out. Than the PlayStation days where I would hook them on to a charger cord tons of times throughout a day 😂‼ I am eventually in the process of fully giving away my PS4 Pro with the PlayStation VR towards my younger sisters 4 boys out of state. That’s the ONLY thing I like about the PlayStation 4 and heard it works for the 5 too is the VR looks so intense while playing. But i am finally moving on from that console. I hope to see in the future Microsoft comes out with VR for Xbox which I know it will eventually happen. Other than that less than two week ago that I gave away my PSN Account t that has soon to expire PlayStation plus this coming up September 22nd, I won’t renew to give to a good online PlayStation friend I knew for some years that I am also friends with him on Facebook also. I am letting him be the first friend to keep my 2009 account forever that I started playing mw2 a month or so after the game launched. When it just comes to gaming in general theses days XBOX & PC is were its at for gaming these days. I remembered those good OLD days playing on ps3 controller after charging it, it would last like a week or so before having to re put it back on the charger. PS3 was where it was at over the Xbox 360, ESPECIALLY NOT having to PAY to play for a online subscription which was a deal breaker for me‼If SONY wants to regain ALL their LOSS customers like me to be back to being a fan of their NEW/NEWER generation consoles, give us back our FREE to play online back and I wouldn’t mind paying for their controllers that don’t last that long anymore. They are putting too much technology into their controllers that us GAMERS ACTUALLY DON’T need that causes battery a big battery shortage and them failing to work over a short period of time. Like each PS3 controller I’ve remembered I had all lasted at least 3 or until till we fully wear down the analog sticks. Then ps4’s would lasts up to 1 1/2 years while putting countless hour on them playing FPS games. Now with the PS5 controllers you'll be very lucky to get 1 year out of them if your a casual everyday FPS hardcore gamer. I sure hope everyone understands where I am coming from and hope the best for everyone on whichever console they decide to get. Just REMEMBER when it comes to repair ability for the PS5 and something goes out on the console, it will be a VERY BAD NiGHTMARE to have to fix. To remove a plate to get to the mother board you have to remove ‘’40’’ screws, YES ‘’40’’ screws that SONY hides in their 10 million views video on their KZbin channel video of the initial tear down of the PS5. One thing about the series S is storage. At 500 GB I was barely able to fit the games I wanted. And the storage expansion cost as much as upgrading to the X, which is what I ended up doing

@@rampageblackston4926 same. I can’t fill up 500gb with the games I’m currently playing. I bought a 300gb hdd a while back for my one s just to fit modern warfare and I still couldn’t fill it up. Storage can easily be plentiful if you use it efficiently. I have a Series X now, and I only fill it up to 75% capacity even with a bunch of games I rarely or don’t even play.

Been a PlayStation gamer since 1996 but I bought my 1st XB back in December series S and I dont regret it at all. Quick resume is a feature that saves so much time seamlessly switching between games without having to wait for it to load right from the start I love it. Game pass has saved me so much money cause some of the games I was gonna buy like NBA2K21, Forza4 are on there so I just downloaded them. Loading times are crazy fast catches me off guard sometimes cause I'm use to waiting. Overall a awesome gaming console I really dont know why people are sleeping on the series S

I’d say it’s a good idea to get a next gen Xbox if you already have a PS4, and get a ps5 if you already have an Xbox one. This way you will unlock more extra content. Just my opinion though, you should get whatever you think is best for you.

I like to think there will be some amazing stuff on ps5 in the future (ratchet and clank was a great introduction to the generation), but for now there is so much stuff for me to play on game pass (even though most of it is last gen)

I just ordered a new Xbox Series S, off of eBay! It was $250, plus tax, but Free shipping! Altogether it came up to $272, which is great. I was thinking of spending like $50 more, and get the 1TB version. I really wanted the Series X, but it was get a new Xbox Series S, or get a Xbox series X used, for around the same price, slightly more for the X. I have a 4k TV, So I really wanted the better graphics, but I chose the 1440p. Another reason I bought the S, was that it's small enough to take with you, when you leave your house(Vacation, or going over Parents house). Try them both, but 4 me, I'm going with the Series S. This is why I went to Xbox after two decades of playstation. My PC is good, and it’s even better now that I use Gamepass over steam. Why pay $70 if it’s free. I also love jumping from PC to the Xbox, and then playing on the go with my phone. The connection for remote play is black magic for sure. Zero latency!

I agree with this, while I have a ps5 I also have a series x the features these Xbox consoles have blow the ps5 console features out of the water. Gamepass is absolutely brilliant and the fact we have our first AAA game hitting day one with outriders is the start of games being consumed via subscription which I’m more than happy about. The ability to expand the storage and actually play series x and s games off it from day one is awsome, quick resume, ALL, Dolby atmos and Dolby vision support along with VRR to name a few. Definitely a better console over all I think. Great video 👍🏼

Considering the amount of people getting the disc variant of the PS5 over the all digital variant shows that the Series S has a big price advantage. Sony themselves said they will be making more disc variants of the PS5 overall compared to the all digital variant, so overall there will be less competition between the Series S and all digital PS5.
