First room solution is pretty simple actually, glazed terracota has a function that is rare to decorative blocks, it changes the direction of its drawings depending on where you are looking when placing it, so the combination is the direction of the blocks using the center one as a parameter, that being said, English is not my mother language so it might have some errors, and I will edit it to add the solution of the others rooms Edit: About the second room, I put a lot of thoughts of how that work and I discovered 3 of the 4 items, is really complex and I agree with hacking that one, even if he discovered the 3 that I got, he would have to try every other item for the 4 slot, with would take too much time About the third room, it's probably about the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests and massacre, I couldn't read the book but that's the only thing I came up with, the second book is in Chinese, so it may be it

Final results: 5/8 rooms Solved Correctly. Room 1: XRay used. Room 2: XRay used. Room 3: XRay used. Room 4: Assistance used, but would have figured it out eventually on his own. Better hint would have been a creative-only item, like a Command Block. Puzzle solved correctly. Room 5: Puzzle solved completely correctly, but answer thrown off by time. Room 6: Puzzle solved completely correctly. Room 7: Middle-road option taken, puzzle solved correctly. Room 8: Puzzle solved completely correctly.

The people you talk about are given time to memorize the mixed state of the cube, and since they know the solution, they are able to solve it, boosfer saw the 'mixed state' but if he doesnt know the solution, he wont be able to even get close to solving it...

I think so. I also have a theory on the items. The coal ore, gold ore, gold blocks, and furnaces in the walls were to represent the nether quartz ore which can be smelted as an ore and turned into blocks. The purpur blocks represented the different variants of quartz The arrows that represented a cycle or loop are for the emerald block which be turned into emeralds and back into a block. The fact that there were items in three of four walls represented how stairs are three quarters of a block. I think the wall without other blocks in it was the west wall.

For room 2, i think every item had to relate with each other. The gold ore and gold blocks can be made into gold ignots, furnace and coal work together to smelt items, etc. I think it was based off villagers. As sugar cane turns into paper which then can be traded for emeralds, (that turn into emerald blocks) you can buy quartz blocks from a master mason and the wooden plank stairs do generate in mason houses if i remember.

Room 2 with the quartz pillar area is obvious. Nether quarts you get experience from mining it. Sugar cane can be crafted into paper. A villager trade. That trade gives emeralds which can be used for a bookshelf villager trade

I think I get room 1 and 2: Room one is due to the rotation of terracotta, my best guess for room two waas the walls having something to due with North, South, East and West, Nether Quartz, sugarcane, emerald and wooden stairs and the arrow/blocks were to do with the direction Room 3 might be binary but idk

Can already tell the solution of first puzzle. Look at the glazed terracota behind the item frames. There is a lighter corner. Point the arrows towards the lighter corners for each one. Boom. Puzzle solved.
