3:35 "hair spray bottle". I"m guessing Todd sprays his hair down about as often as I do. LOL

@@pddofficial LOL. At least you have something to spray down!

Use something very similar to this in the class 8 world. Our kit also seals off the down pipe, not only can you check for boost leaks, but loss of drive pressure as well. I’ve found hundreds of leaking exhaust manifolds without carbon trails from the leak/s. Your spot on with the 30 psi cap! That plug can cause damage you wouldn’t think possible when it comes shooting out. You’ll only do that once.

Can we get a video of you guys performing a boost leak test

I have done this over 9 years ago. Awesome tool to have.

But added a pressure gauge to the fitting

That's awesome. I built a custom intake hat for my 1994 Turbo IDI F-250 and I built myself something like that although yours looks a lot nicer. The one I built is ugly as sin, wasn't very good at welding at the time but it did work.

Looks much better than what I rigged up from Home Depot. Good to 30 psi.... then look out oil filter!

Great video and a fairly easy tool to make for the DIYer.

How would you set it up on an 05 cummins with stock intake?
@bcbloc024 жыл бұрын
I always just used a coffee can to block the intake then fed air back in thru the boost signal fitting. It is fun when you launch the can out! boom. LOL

What's a coffee can? You mean the Keurig cups? ;-)

I use a tire schrader valve instead of the straight through air connection to ensure I don’t accidentally hook up 150psi of shop air and turn everything into a pipe bomb

So on my boost leak detector I made for my powerstroke I used a bolt in style tire valve stem and a cheap gauge threaded in so I can fill it like I would a tire and dont have a chance to over fill it and blow it up in my face

Boost leak is like trying to blow up a balloon that has a hole in it. You MIGHT be able to blow it up if it has a pinhole and you definitely cannot blow it up if it has anything much larger than that.
