The truck in this video is better than a Lightning. I had an ‘02. They got a lot from 4:10s. This one does it with 4WD - my 2 questions are a) what ratio is in it; and b) how long will the transfer case/front end hold up? Maybe, also, does it have the locking rear? Great idea! Awesome truck! I’m not big on lowering/leveling kits, but this one is done just right - everything matches for a perfect aesthetic.

I am an old gear head from wwaaayyy back and I love gear heads and their ride. This age of technological development we live in is truly amazing. Electronics have teamed with a piston to make a machine that is amazingly efficient. I had a 72 Blazer, 350 ,4 barrel Rochester card that on the highway would produce 8 mpg and was slower than my 1958 Volvo. I now drive an F150 with 375 HP that gets 22 highway mpg. By 1970s standards, that’s insane, insane I say,!

The truck cams are better for boost because they are made for torque and because Whipple is a little more top end it is a great set up down low and up top

They (whipple) are not for top end. It will pull up top though, yes. It's designed to make full boost by 1800 rpm. Which is how you move heavy loads quickly. This is why OEMs use pd blowers from the factory. Or turbos. Zero vorteks given...

What I like about the ford lightnings (older ones) and the one he built is that, not only is it a fun daily driver its also practical because you can go to the track and get a few drag races in, then stop by home depot, pick up some paint, plywood and some 2x4's and built yourself a deck when you get home.

The truck is cool. The driver has to be 280-320 lbs and the truck still rips. The easiest way to save weight in a race car is to put down the cheese burger. The motor did blow. Option wise if you don't need leather you can find or build an STX truck on top of the Base XL and add the XL appearance package then The STX option giving you a badass 4x4 with 19s and the 3.5 dual turbo Ecoboost color matched paint 8" sync 3 screen and option in your 3:73s (which the ten speeds first 3 gears will effect a 4:10 functionally) and you should see the electronic locking rear diff already on the build. That's a Supercab or supercrew for 43k talk them down to 40k if you buy off the lot. The STXs are the best deal.

I'm surprised the transmission and transfer case can handle that launch and abuse. You'd think all that power would hurt something in a 4x4 drivetrain, designed for off-road and limited traction. Not asphalt launches.

Justin Fontenot the 2018 ten speed is the best transmission Ford has ever made, I sat through 2018 f150 factory training, this tranny has zero cast parts, all forged case included and is smaller and cooler running against the 2017 ten speed. The 2018 5.0 is running 12:1 slugs and has dual injection, low speed plenum and hi-speed direct hammer fired injectors. The 2017 is direct only, noisy because of that and inferior to the dual.

I think the 4x4 is just for launching. Once over like 30-40mph I think it disenganges if I remember correctly.
