I agree with the shifter comment, the shifters feel great on the La Prima and Forte in their context, but the Invicta needs something better for the price, same thing with the handles in my opinion. The saving grace is that they could well release Invicta shifter modules and handles, and people would only have to bolt them on, but we'll see if that ever comes to pass.

Hey Will! Regarding the "flex" in the shifters. That's actually the rubber bump stop at the end of the travel. I know you specifically mentioned this in your reviews for the other Asetek wheels stating how it was nice they added padding and made it quiet for use in an apartment or a home with other occupants. I think if you look closely at the shifters while pulling hard on them you'll notice it's the intentional rubber bumper and not the housing flexing. :)
@boostedmedia

No, the plastic is flexing as well.

@@boostedmedia Yes! I see it now. If you absolutely wrench on it there is some flex after completely compressing the rubber bump stop. Boy is it uncomfortable to pull that hard though. :p
@boostedmedia
@boostedmedia 2 ай бұрын
Yep. As I said in the video, you’re not generally going to be pulling that hard under normal driving conditions, but some people do, and the fact is other wheels at a similar price point have zero flex in that manner.

@@boostedmediaI think you're right for what it's worth. It looks like they cut costs there and as the top of their range wheel, you wouldn't really expect that especially as other vendors top range wheels don't do this.

Very good review - as always. I personally like that shifters a lot. I have other wheels (e.g. BST) that are more rigid in that case but as said I prefer the Asetek shifters... The thing I do not like are the LMP handles. I own them but without gloves they are too slippery in my opinion. I prefer the material of the other handles. But as always: It's personell preference. And Asetek gives you the option. I never regred switching to Asetek from Fanatec.

Do you have any insight to why the tires temps/pressures on the invicta wheel don’t reflect the same as in game dashes for vehicles? While driving the Ferrari gt3 in iracing I noticed they did not change and match the pressures/temps as shown on the Ferrari dash. The only time I saw temps change was to correlate with the black box temps during a pit stop, and pressures remained at the initial pressures the whole time regardless. Curious if there is a way to match the car itself

Hi Will, great video as always. I have one question as "Mr grip man" :-) The LMP grips look like Asetek have added a fine texture to the surface, as there were some comments regarding the launch ones as being quite smooth and slippery. Are you able to confirm this has now been addressed on the version you have there? The reason I ask is we now offer various versions of the Asetek grip range with our 310 Wider Wheel Kit so this is particularly relevant to my customer base, Best Regards, Peter

Screen on the wheel is a touch screen i hear, with functionality coming soon for it.(currently disabled) As for the shifters moving like that it's because the paddles are extended out i would guess as you have more leverage, even so no one should be pressing that hard anyway. I have mine all the way in ( big hands) on my forte and have like 1-2mm flex if i press really hard like Will did.

Just my thought on your complaint about the shifters. If you look really close when engaging the shifter you can see that the plastic is not flexing in the slightest. The "flex" you are noticing is the endstop of the shifter sinking into the rubber padding. The asetek shifters are padded in both pulling the shifter and releasing it. This is the thing that makes them so silent compared to the competition

It's not in the cards for everybody, which is why thankfully there is plenty of good options in the 650-800 price range, including from Asetek themselves. However that doesn't make it silly to produce a high end product, or '2020' pricing. European made, no cost cut type of high end product always have a place in the market. The thing with Asetek is that they keep marketing how they are ‘open’ and don’t want to lock people into an ecosystem and give them choice, but there is always a barrier to keep you within their ecosystem or something of theirs you have to buy to actually do that. For example their front mount for rigs. You have to use their rims with their button plate, their QR with their bases, and now to use this wheel 3rd party you have to buy their QR.

@ty194
@ty194 2 ай бұрын
@@TsZen876 In which case you don't need a multiposition switch - just rotary encoders will do like most other wheels. The whole point of having multiposition switches is so that you can visually see with the visual indicators on the hardware what position the switch is in and if the game supports it, it will relay the position to it and it will match what you see. With rotary encoders, it has no concept of position so no matter what position you have the switch in, it will always reset to zero if you restart the game. As for BST, they've created a whole new technology which renders all of this irrelevant. It's a genius but simple concept which stands in a class of its own. By having digital indicators on the wheel itself, it doesn't matter whether or not the rotaries are multiposition.

Have a massive backlog of reviews to get through at the moment. We can’t go to the expo because we can’t afford the time off doing product reviews to just cover the same thing as everyone else is covering. There’s plenty of people there to cover everything that’s going on without us travelling half way around the world. I’d love to go but it’s just not a practical use of my time when we’re so busy.

@@boostedmedia makes sense. Thanks for reply. Exciting to see Fanatec recovering. The new handbrake and Porsche wheel look really good too. Look forward to your reviews 😀

Lovely wheel. LMP grips look really nice, and the screen looks fantastic. Still, Simagic FX pro isn't too far off and a lot less $.

There's so many good options now. Really comes down to what you value most. There isn't one single wheel in this segment that I think is objectively the best, they all have different strengths and weaknesses.

i believe we are far beyond the limit with that stuff. almost 2k € for a wheel is too much ! especially if you can buy similar wheels for under 1k€ ( e.g. FX Pro ) Sim Racing feels its going the complete wrong way. No really inspiration (like an QR for any wheel ), only more same boring stuff as the last years , only for crazy prices

I like everything about Asetek--except their designs. From the boy racer styling of the base, to the ugly Forte wheel, and now the Invicta wheel having fake LMP grips that don't attach at the bottom. Love the pass through USB. Love the open system. Love their philosophy. Just can't stand looking at their products.

Haha. I unfirtunately managed to get pretty fat during covid and have struggled to get rid of it a bit more than I did in ym younger years. Started doing 30 min of exercise bike and rowing machine every day about 3 months ago so that would be why my arms are getting a bit better now. Hopefully the rest of it starts to work soon.

@@boostedmedia that's awesome mate. You're probably meant to be bigger than you were back then tbh. Kinda normal to fill out a bit... But yeah, we definitely need to keep it from snowballing into a problem. Especially as we get older

@@boostedmedia personally I cant recommend enough a mixture of - pushups, rowing, pull ups, chin ups and bicep curls (I prefer pump so maybe reps of 30 at a lower weight), and all at an easy and "non-egostistical" pace. You don't want an injury... But I've never seen better results than when I was doing those basic 5 exercises, personally. Of course a LOT of it is in diet, and a moderately balanced caloric deficit, preferably with low calorie dense meals so you still feel satisfied. I never been a big dieter, and try to manage on portions more than healthier food. Everyone is different

If you don’t like the “Flex” in the shifters, remove the rubber bumper under the mount. The “Flex” is not in the materials. It’s just the rubber bumper, which keeps the noise down, that is compressing.
