I purchased this same can after watching the video. Install took 15 minutes. $60 ebay. Money well spent. My truck is a new 17' with 2K miles on it now and the PCV already is coated with oil. This should help keep that active intake system working good and my throttle body cleaner. Plan to run this truck till the wheels fall off. Running Amsoil in it too. Thanks for the good video. Its spot on as he says.

Great video, thanks for sharing. Might consider Teflon tape for the brass fittings and maybe some anti-seize on the can threads so it's easier to take off to empty.
@BoostedMotorsports7 жыл бұрын
Humbabah both great tips! I didn't have teflon tape on hand but want to see how it does out of the box. Won't be high pressure so hopefully should be alright! The threads on the can seem very smooth and the rubber o-ring seals it. Time will tell but I'll keep everyone updated on how it does!

At the drain valve you can run a section of hose out of the bottom of the engine bay. It will make it easier and less of a mess to drain when it comes time. Just a suggestion. It was a great video man. Keep it up.

I just tore down my 2009 Ram hemi 5.7 and she had been sucking oil into the intake. I'm assuming the PCV system was trash. I'm going to install a catch can as a warning/preventative measure on my rebuild. After 113000 miles my engine had about 1/16 inch of carbon on the piston heads. I imagine a piece of that carbon or pieces could break off, wedge between the rings and start causing problems in high mileage.
@Glock274Jimmy2 жыл бұрын
When I click on this link it takes me to a page with one that I could buy. When I scroll down it shows a photo of an installed unit. It looks like the hoses are routed different than the ones routed in this video. It is a different engine, but my point is that the hose that is going to the back by the pcv valve is the other hose than what you did in the video. So, it makes me wonder if it matters which hose goes where or ???

@boostedmotorsports: Ive been having misfire codes going off and recently ive had the truck taken in for a dry and wet compression test. They said that the motor is loosing compression down towards the lower part of the motor near the crank case. i have a 2010 ram 5.7 hemi. My question is am i going to have to completely remove the motor and take it apart to inspect each piston and all their compression and oil rings??? And if the motor is loosing enough compression to throw off a misfire code am i going to need to replace any pistons or even have some fabrication work done to any of the cylinder walls???

@downsouthtv46166 жыл бұрын
nowhere near overfilling. where one of the fittings screws into the can, it was leaking out (i think only when i was getting on it and the oil pressure was high). I emailed Matt at Moe's Performance and he told me to unscrew the fitting and put some teflon tape around the threads to stop the leak. so far so good but i haven't been getting on it to be careful. i think the glue or whatever they put around the threads was bad because it came off when i unscrewed it to put the teflon tape on.

Excuse my ignorance but what is this product for?
@BoostedMotorsports7 жыл бұрын
No worries! It is to catch gas/oil vapors that are sent from crankcase back into the intake manifold to be burned by the engine. By installing this can the gas/oil is separated in the vapor and is trapped in the can instead of making its way back to the intake. This keeps your intake manifold and valves from getting gunked up and also helps to not reduce your fuel octane by sending oil into the combustion chamber.
@phillk67516 жыл бұрын
If I'm not mistaken, this is a modification to what would be considered a poorly designed PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system. I've modified one in an old Toyota Celica I used to own, and placed an inline fuel filter instead. The catch can is a better solution, and you can if you wanted to even install an inline fuel filter between the can and the intake if you're paranoid about it.

I like that price, is it excellent quality as the original Billet Technology version? Hopefully it's as good and maybe even better. A commentor on BEASTproject video says this isn't necessary on the hemi due to it having MPI or Multi Port Injection ( super old technology) which is the injector being on top of the valves. The fuel sprays over the valves on the way into being ignited. So, the fuel washes the injectors. He says it is necessary on DI direct injection engines. I know we all want what's best for our Ram truck but sometimes I think there are scams that really aren't worthwhile. Check it out. I've realized I have to do so much research asking lots of different people just to find the bottom line. Thanks for the good video though. Without people like you, especially when they don't give instructions, others would be lost. What brand is yours and is it available on Amazon now for 45 dollars?
