Great job sleuthing the issue and coming up with a $50 fix. Imagine taking it to a shop and getting “the entire motor needs a rebuild” quote? Big 👍🏻’s up!

Perfect example of a budget fix. So many people would say to pull the engine and rebuild or replace. This is something you could do over a weekend and be driving to work Monday. Good work.

Very nice. Glad you found it was just a tired bearing. I'm never that lucky lol. I always stack bearings before I hear it knock fast enough to just throw bearings in it

Nice diagnosis and fix, not to mention nursing it all the way back to florida! With this in mind do you think your technique of keeping it quiet on the drive helped?
@christophergonzales7876 Жыл бұрын
What headers are on that truck?? They seem to avoid the brake booster , that’s why you are able to lift it so high. My stock manifolds are hitting a bracket on the passenger side and the brake booster on the driver side.

You were very lucky this didn't fail on your trip back to Florida! I'm curious, how many miles are on this engine?

I agree! It doesnt appear to be the original engine so its hard to say!

[[ 2003 Durango 5.9 engine ]]when taking out the #5 lower connecting rod bearing out what position does all or the Firing order should be before doing your bearings ??
@dtruth57692 жыл бұрын
Nice job. Any reason why you didn't replace main bearings.
@JETZcorp Жыл бұрын
Main bearings require the whole engine to come out and come apart to remove the crank. Rod bearings you can do in the truck.

I have to ask, did this repair hold up? I am having a similar issue with my R/T that I bought back from the second owner as I was the original owner. Thanks for any additional information.

My 5.9 Dakota just started making this exact noise. Guess I have a good idea what's causing it. Sure would be nice if I had a lift or even a garage.
@JETZcorp Жыл бұрын
Turns out my noise was coming from a disintegrated harmonic balancer. Identical noise, but much easier fix. I was starting the process of pulling the pan when I clanked my head into the thing and it made The Noise.

Nice fix , perfect timing on catching the issue before it spin right round.. is Josh a hired hand along with i think it was his Dad in the other video installing headers etc, or they friends , family or neighbours , not trying to be nosy jus curious like any average human lol , great videos as always 👍

You should mic the crank, that much wear on the bearing caused wear on the crank more than likely. Temporary fix more than likely.
