In this video, we refurbish a pair of Wilcox heritage style boots with Vibram wedge soles. This customer wanted to ditch the traditional heel blocks and leather soles for a new look. After the resole, we finished these boots off with Saphir Greasy Leather Cream.

Shoe Restoration: My nine year-old son and I found your channel some months ago, we were instantly hooked. We appreciate the craft and functional art of shoe restoration and y’alls drive to make the channel educational and rooted a strong work ethic. I picked up a pair of cap-toe Allen Edmond Park Avenue after your eBay challenge. Picked up Saphire Creme 1925, Renovateur, and Crème Rénovatrice. I used acetone to get off all the old product and to get a good base to start on the conditioning, scratch filling, and buffing processes. I could not believe how beautiful the uppers came out. The soles and welts are a different story. The heels are worn to the blocks. You can see heavy loose leather fibers wearing almost completely away at the ball-joints with the welt totally separated from the uppers on one of the toes due to the stitching being worn out. One of the insoles has all these tiny circular marks as if some hasty cobbler was trying to get them out the door. I wanted to support my local cobblers but to my dismay no one had ever heard of JR or even grades of leather. One guy said “we have cow leather”. I did find one older well-respected cobbler but he said JR wouldn’t let him buy the soles and he was also having hand surgery on both hands so he would not be able to work on my shoes. His joints were not doubt the victim of his success. I said god bless and wished him well. For the time being the shoes are hanging on my pegboard like an old Toyota truck in the junkyard waiting for someone to realize it’s potential.

The boots look like a Wilcox “Shiloh”, calfskin lined, padded collar, Goodyear welt, and two part sole. They look pretty good once you started deconstructing them as well. SHOE RESTORATION: I have a nice pair of elephant ear hide boots that my father had made a long time ago, they were a perfect fit and he passed them to me, I wore them a lot then, sent them to someone for some work, they came back and lasted about 3 months, everything fell apart on them, cheap leather wore out fast, bad stitching busted BAD... they changed my shank shape I think, because it felt like i had a magic marker running down the middle of my foot, nails bent over under the heel were not nice to stand on, and something they did made them tight over the top of the foot, they were not comfortable to have on for more than an hour or so.... in short these poor boots need a LOT of tender love and care to return them to their former glory.

I would assume the paste might be used on a boot like this with a very high and prevalent shank and a overall deeper space to fill out compared to sheets on something more flat and even like a dress shoe, but I have no experience as a cobbler I'd love to hear from the man himself on it tbh.

Shoe restore- I have from a distance my rocky boots look pretty good and the he tread is sharp but there is a split in the soles on both boots that allow water to seep in so they just sit there looking lonely and sad. You guys are awesome at what you do and I love your videos👍🏻

Shoe restoration: 25 year old Quoddy Moc Classic Ring Boot...Lived in a pair of these since 1972 but got this particular pair in the 90's. The leather soles were not made for everyday wear on hard surfaces and are not waterproof to say the least. Would like a sole that would allow them to be worn on hard surfaces but still maintains the character of the boot. I'm a luthier and have a great appreciation for traditional craftsmanship. Love watching your work and truly appreciate the sheer ability it takes to revive "well-loved shoes."

Shoe restoration. Thank you for all the great information that helps us keep our shoes in good condition. I have a pair of ebay pebble grain Ferragamo oxfords with vibram soles that have been badly reglued with glue on the uppers and one toe is flat and stained.

Just now seeing this video! Ya'll did a fantastic job bringing this well used pair of work boots back to life. I no doubt have already missed the deadline for the restoration drawing but you bet I'll be tossing my name into the next pot. I myself have a trusted pair of boots that were involved in a motorcycle accident and had to be retired before their time because of insurance purposes and the laces being cut to get the boots off of me. Keep up the great work gents and thank you for all you quality videos!

I’m happy to see you guys using hot cork. Most people just use thin sheets of cork and call it a day. Hot cork fills all the gaps and is more like a completely new shoe. Excellent work fellas.

Thank you for making my boots celebrities. I’m going to have to get used to having people take pictures with them while I walk around Nashville! I love the channel, and I can’t wait to see what’s next from Trenton & Heath. BTW, I have a pair of their cap-toes (which have been discontinued) if you need a pair for your review. I can’t wait to pick them up!!

Shoe Restoration! I gifted my brother a pair of Red Wing Iron Rangers two years ago and he has been wearing them every other day. The sole has seen better days and could use some work. It’s on the original nitrile cork sole so a new vibram outsole would help with the slickness. Love the videos btw. Keep up the great work!

Shoe Restoration: I just finished up my 20 years of Army service and have some used and abused all black leather, rubber soled combat boots that deserve a new set of treads. I would love to see some storm welt leather soles on them to give a solid start on a new life. Thank you for your consideration. Keep the fantastic videos coming.

Shoe restoration: I love watching craftsmen work, you guys were a channel suggested to me and I’ve been hooked since. I have an old pair or Johnston and Murphy’s they were a gift and my oldest pair of shoes which I’ve had for almost 15 years now, they’re in bad condition although since watching you guys I bought some shoe trees and that has helped them a bit however I wore them and the heel lift came off 😭 so my excitement to enjoy my oldest pair has to be but on hold. Bc of you guys tho I did buy my first pair of Allen Edmonds which I’m very very happy to own. Keep doing your thing

Shoe restoration: I have a pair for Frye harness boots that are in ROUGH shape. I’ve managed to wear them lovingly through the rubber outsole, the insole, and in a couple places perhaps even the welt...😬. They’re unwearable, have been for a few years. I’d really love to have them resoled by you guys. You do amazing work. Thanks for considering these shoes.

I really appreciate you guys. You two have really helped me appreciate the need to have things that can last a long time. And that rely on real human work. I'm glad you are expanding and offering free services to subscribers. However, I really wish you guys had someone to respond to emails. I sent three different emails (after submitting an order!) and have yet to hear back. I can only imagine you all probably got thousands of shoes from around the world because of the great work you do. And I'm okay with a 1, 2, or even a 3-month wait for a resoling. But the non-communication (especially on a pair of shoes that my dad has had for over 30 years) is disappointing.
