usb 3.0 and 2.0 have nothing to do with it, i know multiple people with a yeti and its just a thing that either is there or is not there, a lot of yeti's have it no matter what usb port you plug them in to, and some dont have it, my best guess as to why a lot have it and some dont have it is due to bad QC standards on the more budget series of mic's, its a shame but that is the only thing i can think of. a reason for me to stay away from blue all together, because if you contact them about it they will tell you that it is because of your usb port, or you droped it or you broke it. in other words you are not taken seriously by blue if you contact them about the whine noise

He changed the pickup shape as he went along and the gain of the mic(yeti). As well, it looked like he was getting closer to the mics which would change how the bassyness of his voice is making the difference all the more apparent.

What I like on these kind of videos is to have a short period of silence so that it is possible to hear the inherent noise floor of the microphones. Could you do that in your next videos please? Great comparison btw.

I have the Snowball Ice (my first mic actually) and it sounds about the same as the regular Snowball. Has an even worse stand though. Its only when you start using "proper" microphones that you realise that these just aren't in the same league. Not bad for starting out though.

This is really well done and thorough. I am starting a content program to build credibility as a financial advisor, so audio quality directly translates to perceived professionalism and expertise. What really made the difference for me was the proximity effect comparison. The bassiness of the Snowball would make me sound overbearing, and I don't want that. Also, I like being able to monitor the Yeti and change the recording pattern... in case I do interviews and need the figure eight pattern. Thank you!

Love these videos. Side note: My first mic was a Snowball. It was such a thin, dry, tinny, pant-load, I didn't even bother to try to sell it. I got much more satisfaction by throwing it in the bin. Friends and colleagues always ask (during both gaming & meetings) what mic I’m using because of the quality. Also, I’m a dumbass and figured out how to use it, so it’s idiot proof too. No problems at all, I’ve found that having roughly 6inches away from your mouth gives the best audio.

I can hear a high pitched whine coming from the Yeti. It costs more, so I would assume that it would generally be better, but that whining is driving me crazy.

Great review. Your channel has really become one of my favorites to watch. If you ever get the chance, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Kaotica Eyeball just cause everyone I've seen review it never really goes far to prove the claim that it "takes the room out of the equation".

The Best Tip for Beginners starts at the end 12:00 I don't want anyone to miss that! Definitely worth listening to the whole video just to get a good idea of sound quality, features, etc as you can find many similar elsewhere. I'm an indecisive tech junkie on a budget, I really needed to hear that, I knew where to start and had a few in mind including the snowball. Thanks for the video :) I prefer the sound of the snowball, not sure why, I personally find it sound better, this video is helped me decide between any blue line and a non blue line, although I love the sound of blue I will save that for the future as the options available in the ------ are much better for the price.

I like the snowball, I bough 1 (older model) log time ago for $100.00 in the apple store (They sell it at that time), I use it with a metal pop filter, a blue ring and good mic stand just for for vocals, and the results is amazing, you can compare the recording with other audio files created with AKG & Sennheiser mics and you never know what is made it with the blue snowball, I believe you can get studio quality with this one.

yeti definitely sounds smoother. i have an interface, but because i have a chromebook, i got the yeti for zooming and stuff, as it's plug and play. if i want serious audio, i use the interface and audacity. the yet is nice for easy setup and recording videos or zoom meetings etc. different tools.

imo The Blue Snowball is more sensitive to voices than the Blue Yeti, which I like. So the Blue Snowball wins in my book.

I wish this video was done later because Sherpa has been updated. The Yeti in this video had an overtone sound to it in the background, but the new Sherpa has settings that can change the expander gate settings and fix that. Maybe try refilming this video again? Throw in a blue Ember?

The Snowball has a richer phatter sound to it. However it does sound a bit metallic, but a simple EQ or mastering settings can remove that. The Yeti sounds a little crisper however your one used in the video has some computer noise in the background, which can be anything. both are nice sounding mics with their own draw backs and percs.
Which pop filter should you use?
