Bootleg Breakdown Extra: Customizing a Neck Joint for SHF SS3 Goku 2.0

Since my original plans to fix up the newest Goku and Vegeta are proving to be a wash right now, taking an idea out of the comments to make a neck joint that fits on the SS3 2.0 bootleg figure that can accommodate some more standard Goku heads, or at least the SRoE bootleg one here.

Thank you kindly for the comment; as for breaking down a figma bootleg to this degree, you do make a decent observation that I haven't done a full teardown like this yet, but that's mostly because nothing has been so fully broken to need it just yet. That being said, I actually have Deku next in line for a video plus Ryuko is undergoing some touch ups and a small repair attempt, so there will likely be some sort of video along these lines soonish.

That's honestly one of the big reasons I started doing the complete teardown videos: I wanted to tinker around and see just how these things worked (or failed to in a number of cases), and maybe down the line do some more in-depth and custom work, like how this piece could be turned into a makeshift SHF edition of the old Super Battle Collection Vol 00 Son Goku Perfect Version for instance.

@@ManyNinjas yeah that line was classic and needs an shf update always wanted that young gohan (non super saiyan one) to be articulated!🙂 As for me ive been thinking maybe create my own figures, from what i'll learn from your vids. just for my own enjoyment, nothing serious. You are welcome, and let me add one thing I am figuring out regarding the glue situation here; namely, most super glues will have trouble adhering to the type of plastics these figures use, so it's been recommended that specialized stuff like epoxy cement or other plastic specific glues are needed to force the stronger connection needed to try and support the joint here. Going to include this in the next related update video.

I have a ssj1 goku and it's peg broke like in half and I don't know how to fix it I try to glue the head back but wouldn't work

Depending on where the break occurred, if there's enough room you might be able to at least try to drill in a small hole to try and insert a small metal bit to try and give the glue attempt something stronger to bridge the two separate parts and looking for a more solvent based glue solution that is meant to weld plastics together as at this scale and material conventional super glues probably just don't have the space to form a strong enough bond. Might just be easier to steal a joint from a throwaway donor figure or parts figure if you have something like that handy though.

Seemed like a good way to make some use of the otherwise terrible SRoE bootleg on hand, plus a recent video by JP_Toyz which took one of the new Great Saiyaman heads to remake a Mystic/Ultimate Gohan 2.0 got me thinking of other means to do the same.

Thank you kindly; I'm actually debating right now if I want to try and create makeshift versions of what the real articulation should be to get around some of the issues of this figure, or just plain take the good limbs from it and create a hodgepodge but functional custom Vegeta of sorts with some of the other bootleg parts I have on hand.

Just wondering, with the ss3 neck, can the ball joint be taken out on its own?

The trick with the neck joint is that it's actually unique to this figure; the neck itself houses a long tube that has the rounded peg at one end and the full hair on the other where most other figures have those as two separate joints being held by the neck. If you are trying to convert the SS3 head to fit on another body, you can drill or cut the rounded peg off, but it's a one way process barring a lot of extra work or having the means to make a duplicate.
