I have a bootleg Rosalina figurine. I only figured out it was a bootleg a couple years ago when I lost part of the stand that she sits on and went online to look for a replacement part. Her crown is gold instead of silver, her wand is this tiny piece of bent-up plastic, and her dress and hair are just so badly miscolored that it's hilarious. It's kind of embarrassing that it took me this long to figure out... I haven't even tried to get a new one because I don't want to end up with another bootleg. Btdubbs, I got this from Amazon. So even Amazon is not immune to bootleggery.

Sometimes settling for fakes (higher-quality bootlegs) might be a more viable option though. In my country Amiibos and figurines are crazy expensive so I usually buy fakes. What differentiate the fakes from legit products is the materials and build quality. Materials are, of course, cheaper to reduce costs, but the build quality is what you're gambling with when buying a fake. If you're lucky the fake will look identical to the real deal. Worst case scenario you get missing parts, stiff joints and/or slight recolor, but that's about it.
