Some local notes for my Bootlegging friends, Ragnow actually played 90+ percent of snaps last season. Evan Brown played mostly C in 2021 when Rags suffered the initial injury, and mostly G in 2022 with Vitai out. Sucks to lose high quality OL depth, but we all knew it was highly likely someone was gonna toss starter money at him. Also, it appears at this point Cam will be outside CB with CJGJ mostly taking the nickel spot. Also, congrats on the primary sponsorship Brett and E.J.!! Well deserved!

Another gem of the Lions is the front office. Don't ignore the significance of having a John Dorsey, Ray Agnew in the front office. The same can be said of the significance of John Fox on Campbell's staff. The depth of the entire organization has dramatically improved, not just the roster. View this team today from the perspective of it being easily as high as top 10 in the league as a well run football organization and forget the history and you have a better picture of what's about to happen.

I don't think 13 wins is completely outta the question. Their offense is going to be even better with the new RBs. The defense should be leaps and bounds better, top half, top 10 maybe. I wanna see them strive for the 1 seed in the NFC, it's achievable

Good assessment of the Lion's offseason. I see 2-4 additional wins for them this year Didn't hear much mention of LaPorta, who evidently is tearing it up and impressing at camp. They got him and Gibbs with the sixth pick, and I thought it a good trade. We Lions fans like Even Brown, appreciate his service, but watching him get pushed around and back and upside down at G last year was annoying. Getting Big V back and signing Glasgow is a huge improvement to a very weak point in that line. I agree that Montgomery has a chance to go crazy this year behind that line. Goff may get all the legit play action he can handle, which is him at his best. Phenomenal transformation of the d-backfield, and I'm not including Branch, who I still cannot believe dropped to them. Harris and Okwara took massive pay cuts to stay and the team is now kind of stacked at edge and tweeners. I think Aaron Glenn can now coach and plan more toward his style - attack everything in sight.

An interesting stat from last year's team is the amount of rushing yards they gave up to the opposing Quarterbacks. For the most part they would limit yardage of the running backs but could not contain QBs on designed runs or when plays broke down.

Ben Johnson sticking around is HUGE❕ Thank You Ben Hope to see You back again next season but we’re so thankful to get to run it back with You @ OC . The Lions are moving the right direction Building in that building Fabulous offseason To let Swift & Williams go and The RB Room still gets better Yeaaaa Man Says it all there Jack Campbell MLB with Aiden Hutchinson on the edge is cornerstone pieces for what can be a great Defense over the next decade . They just need to be 15th on D and it’s On . If they’re Top 10, Leagues Done Son WR Room is up there Top 5 in The League Definitely Top 11 & Goff is That Dude I’ve said it when We made the trade Just like I tried to tell people that Stafford is Real Deal it was the defenses he had to play with . 1 good defense his entire time and they weren’t even good again the next season. Lol. Well they were good but not top of The League again . Just like Stafford watch what Carr does now with a decent Defense and just an all around good Team to play with . That’s the past Now The Lions even have a Good QB Room with a Hooker in there backing up The Man Go Off Goff & what matters most is The Foundation Room The O’Line Room and Lions have that nice & tight . Lions even have depth around most of the rooms . It’s about time for Lions & Lions Nation ☝️🦁 Motor City, MoTown USA 🚙 🗣️🎶 🎷 🇺🇸 LG ☝️🦁

To talk about the offense first, I would be very surprised if this team wasn’t top ten again. The O-line is top 8 without breaking a sweat, Ben Johnson is an elite OC, and the RB room is good. In my opinion, Jared Goff is a slightly above average QB that can put up elite numbers in the perfect situation. Just don’t let him get pressured or else he faints. I have a bit of a hot take for the WR room , which is that I think Marvin Jones could be more productive than Williams. Williams has really not shown anything except one reception and didn’t catch his other eight targets. Maybe that’s due to injury or lack of chemistry, so it could improve, but I just don’t have the same level of hype for him as you guys. The TE room is fine, but not great. All in all, it should be a great offense with that coaching and line. As for the defense, I am less high on it than most I think. For the record, I liked all of their additions. Having Sutton and Moseley, with the latter coming off injury, as the two starting outside corners does not fill me with confidence. Not to mention I don’t like the backups either. That said, it helps that they have probably the best safety group in the league and I am so jealous they got Brian Branch. The LB core is obviously improved, although not elite by any means. The pass rush is good but I think they lack a star unless James Houston continues that insane efficiency from last season. I think because of where the defense is coming from, this year’s unit should be a lot better but I think it’s going to be below average. Oh and the coaching staff has Dan Campbell which makes it top ten. Floor (people catch on to Ben Johnson and their new additions get hurt): 7-10 Ceiling (the offense stays humming and the defense becomes average): 12-5 Prediction (because I do like the team and I think they’ll start 5-1): 10-7. Restore the roar baby
@davidagledhill
@davidagledhill Жыл бұрын
@@RekchaThe TE group is probably better than you think. First, outside of Kelce and KC, they scored the most touchdowns of any team in the league last year. Second they are essentially adding Mitchell who was a third round pick two years ago but has been injured. He had 13 catches on 14 targets last year. Also they add LaPorta from this year’s draft. He has been tearing it up in camps so far and he is fast. But maybe you knew that.

Excellent Video. I wasn't sure I wanted to sit through an hour plus of a non-Lions fan talk. But you guys were excellent and seem to get what the Lions are doing. I thought Shela Hemp was just going to be like her mother and father. But she has shown she wants to win and is proving it. She brought in Chris Spielman and Barry Sanders to help the coach/GM search. She has mended a bad rift with Calvin Johnson and he is back in the fold. If a player who played 76% of the snaps sucks, losing him is not a bad thing. I was overjoyed when they traded Okudah and Swift. I loved Swift, but both of them were never healthy. I would have loved Jamaal Williams to stay because he was a great locker room guy. But this whole "he beat Barry's TD record" is bullshiz. Most of his scores were from 1 or 2 yrd line. We have the best Offensive line in the NFL, he better score from there. I have them going 12-5 with a possiblity of 14-3: Week Team Playing Win / Loss 1 Kansas City Win (I gotta feeling) 2 Seattle Win 3 Atlanta Win 4 Green Bay Win 5 Carolina Win (revenge) 6 Tampa Bay Win 7 Baltimore Loss 8 Las Vegas Win 9 Bye 10 Los Angeles Loss 11 Chicago Win 12 Green Bay Win 13 New Orleans Loss (But could be a win) 14 Chicago Win 15 Denver Win (unless Payton has Russell on track) 16 Minnesota Loss 17 Dallas Loss 18 Minnesota Win Record : 12 - 5 NFC North Champions

The only thing I find crazy about this analysis is the ceilings being equal to or below the packers and bears who on paper did not improve as much as the lions (or in the packers case likely not improved at all cause of losing Rodgers) and were also worse than them last season. I feel like you were a little too high on those other teams in best case scenarios when compared to the lions because if like you alluded to earlier if the offense improves on last year when it was arguably top 5 at worst top 7 and the defense improves like it should to being around 18-24th league ranking you would expect that ceiling to be 14 if everything broke right for the lions especially given the schedule
@emilydaddona6329
@emilydaddona6329 Жыл бұрын
It's all because of the Jameson Williams suspension. If that didn't happen, I bet they'd def have the Lions' ceiling at like 13 or 14

THANK YOU! It makes no sense it’s just years of lions being bad that has people cautious but cmon they ceiling cannot be the same as CHI it’s not realistic. Also Jamo did nothing last year and we won 9 games. It’s asinine to think we can’t beat ATL or CAR cause one WR is inactive. It’s a joke

I think you're underestimating how much Jahmyr Gibbs is going to run the ball. The ONLY reason they didn't run D'andre Swift more is, because he couldn't stay healthy. He actually started the first game last year and ran 15 times. That's why they traded him and drafted Jahmyr Gibbs. Also, you don't need a power guy to run through the holes a power O line makes.

For me, it’s not about needing a big guy to run through a hole, it’s about the reality that most of the time within 5 yards of the goal line the defense is going to be manned up outside so they can get a free fitter in the hole against the run, so you need someone who can deal with that free fitter by using power. Very rarely are you going to get a clean lane in low red zone situations. - Brett

@@BootlegFootballIf your Oline is dominant don't matter what style of runner you are, you're goin forward. Be it for a 1st down or TD. Also, Gibbs has the advantage of being a receiving decoy for himself in those situations because of his skill set.

We've heard this positivity for the Lions before. We're well over 30 years of not having a playoff win or even a division title. They are always offseason champions and they always fall out of the race by November. We still have 2.5 months of pretending and they can begin their journey of ending their playoff hopes by November like every other season.

I’ve followed the lions 365 days a year for 15 years. I don’t think I’ve ever heard two people who cover all the teams talk so in depth about the lions and get 99% of the names, positions, schemes, and general background knowledge correct. It’s usually 5 minutes of two guys talking about kneecaps and how Goff used to play for the Rams. Nice job guys doing your homework!

One thing that I cant keep thinking about is correction. Goff had almost no interceptions last year. That pace can absolutly not continue in my opinion so i feel like he is going to average out this year. I know correction is a tough thing to figure for but in my opionion its like a batter on a huge hit streak. It has to end and when it does it usually involves a big slump. Now if it does continue…. Goff is the real deal and we absolutely won that trade

In regards to Gibbs, bama's line wasn't a normal bama line last year. The Lion's line is what bama wanted in a line. I see Gibbs taking solid touches as a RB and they'll give him zone reads and ask him to just make that first dude miss. Cause everyone knows that if one dude misses, Gibbs could be take it to the house.

You also didn't address the difference between Gibbs and Swift. Swift deals with constant injury which limited his snaps. Lions admitted they wanted to use Swift more, but he wasn't there. Gibbs is Swift+
