Brad Holmes draft philosophy has typically been to go for best player available and address needs in free agency. It just so happened that they had Arnold and Rakestraw valued way higher than where they ended up. No one expected Terrion to be there in the 20s.

@@WeAretheMatrix31 I’m not diminishing anything he’s accomplished. He’s said himself that he drafts players, not positions. If the draft had played out differently he would have still gotten a great player, just maybe not at a position of need. He’s been fortunate to have foundational players like Sewell, Hutchinson, and Arnold fall in his lap in the first round. He’s also put himself in great positions to be ready to trade up. At the end of the day, he gets the guys he wants, not the position he wants. And you can bet the guys he wants are going to be absolute studs. He gets all the credit for that.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing If you're looking at the box score you're going to think that they just shut us down which Reynolds is a really solid RB3 so they did shut him down which is a feat, however Montgomery got hurt early in that game and Gibbs was out so it's not really a true tale of the tape

Training camp buzz as kind of a post-episode update. 1. Jameson Williams has transformed into what everyone hoped. Those claws are ready to shred. 2. Levi has come out of nowhere to be a terror in the middle. Disruptive, explose, violent. Pick one they're all correct. 3. Arnold has run away with CB2. 4. Rake has been a turnover machine. 5. Jack Campbell is ready to take on the MLB role full time and don't bet on him being just average at it, the safer bet is top ten LB in the league. 6. Davenport has been exactly what the Lions need opposite Hutch. 7. The scariest part of all is that none of the stars from last year have regressed, just more guys are throwing there hat into the ring for "one of the best players on the team." Team has DUDES everywhere.

Talking secondary alignments...the return of Emmanuel Moseley from injury early has also added another player to the Davis, Robertson, Arnold, Rakestraw mix. Moseley looks to be competing for the slot corner snaps with Robertson and Rakestraw. Davis and Arnold seem to be locks for the outside CBs, as Branch is shifting to Safety with Kerby Joseph that can drop down to CB in 1 Safety sets. A lot of depth all of a sudden in 1 offseason.

Great video. Only argument is at around the 48:00 mark. The lions are the complete opposite of attacking needs. That's the baseline for most teams. They go after the best football player on board. Terrion fell, so they traded up, they already had the position at a safe spot. Same thing with Rakestraw, Manu, and Vaki. All happened to be fits, but they didn't go in with that mentality of addressing needs.
