I think this series is well needed. My self personally i started off with thorogoods and then bumped up to redwings and more recently Nicks. But i would have never gotten where i am now without loving and appreciating the more entry level boots. I would recommend any of these entry level boots to anyone wanting to begin their journey into higher quality footwear. Great informative video Teik as always. 👍 Edit: grammer

Really enjoying the series. A few items to consider: Thorogood go on sale for around USD$200 in the US frequently. Grant Stone's B Grades and pre-owned cost USD$235 on average. Duradero, MIM, includes 1 x re-sole with the price. Freebird, MIM, go on sale for 50% off constantly. Their Carbon moc-toe model is currently 40% off at USD$165 (originally $275). Great value for the build quality. Milwaukee Boot Company is a contractor, so I'm not sure where they're made but they're around USD$245-265. If you can find a Wolverine 1000 Mile 1940 on sale, USD$225 isn't unheard of.

A note on GS seconds. I have numerous pairs, and the flaws are so minor that no one can tell. They are an excellent option if you want real quality at a lower price. Just make sure of your sizing because the return policy might be different for the seconds. I myself wear a half size smaller on both the Brass and Field boots because the last runs large.

Love my White’s Perry! Got the original before they came out with the select and they do go on sale occasionally and when they do they put them close to Thorogood in price which makes them an incredible value IMO.

Hi Tek. I got Perry select a few weeks ago and sold the red wing 875. The comfort and materials are beyond comparison. Now I’m on the fence with the GS field boot i own. May want an 8” select instead.

Excellent installment. And a reference to Murder She Wrote, one of my wife’s old favorites 😅. And yes I also do the brushing while such television is on.

I think my first moc toe was the Alden Indy! I say I think because I had a J Crew Kenton Pacer around the same time and I’m not sure if I was just collecting mock mocs or if one inspired the others’ purchase. Also some loafers if that counts here. I’m glad to see this series from you since I find you’re most informative and the way you talk about everything makes me feel confident in a choice I may make because of your comments. Not like I need more boots!

Very nice comprehensive video. Although I really don’t like the mic toe work boot aesthetic, I really like your information about the different brands’ leathers and how they compare.

My first pair of “quality” boots were 8 inch moc toe thorogoods for work at the time. Still have them about two years later and love them. Sure boots can get much higher quality but they’re a great starter, I think.

I know this is a boot chanle however I own a pair of Thursday Boots "Premier low top sneakers". I absolutely love them and will be buying a second pair in white. Maybe you can do a review of thier low tops. At $129 U.S. they are a very good shoe for the price.

I love moc toe boots. I have 2 pairs of Thursday's Diplomats that I reach for more than any other boots I have, including pairs of Vibergs. Weird for a boot ❤ but true. My Parkhurst Niagara boots come in a close second. Both Thursday and Parkhurst make comfortable, sleek, and sylish boots. I wear my GS Brass and Field boots less, but only because the last doesn't work quite as well for my low volume feet. They are still wonderful boots. I want a pair of Whites' Perry boots because I love my various M1 boots, but I am in boot rehab right now!!!

@Bootlosophy May I ask how your collab boot went? I really loved one of the designs but was intimidated by the ordering process. A personal thank you for your channel: I get to enjoy boots vicariously, and your personality is so pleasant. A real joy.

Thought this may be interesting. If you may recall or seen in a video (by Stridewise?) where a Red Wing employee mentioned a trick to wearing the 1907 with the insole removed and allows for the footbed and cork to break in a bit, then put the insole back. Well I did this with my Thorogood 814-4178’s and it worked in same way to compress the cork more to the shape of my feet and toes. Once I put the insole back in they have a better fit. Or at least it seems to have made a better arch support to where I feel a nice solid arch support, compared to how they started out.

A moc toe is next on my buy list and I've considered White's and Grant Stones and while both are great buys but I don't care for the D-rings on the Grant Stone but the White's Perry Select don't have speed hooks. Stridewide did a review on Jakkrabbits and really like the fact your can get these with speed hooks and Vibram Gloxi Cut wedge soles and have various leather options. They are on the more expensive side at ~$400 USD and they're Indonesian so you're dealing with shipping but as long as the communication during the build is good it shouldn't be a problem.

Lately I watch a lot of your video about boots and I have to say that your channel give me a lot of information about them,so thanks! Btw I have some question, can arch inside boots damage your feet if you wear your boots sightly loose ? I really like my boots slightly loose to give my feet some room to breath and my first 2 boots (Redwings IR, Chippewa Rooffer) was great!. Rightnow I'm plan to get a White's in 55last, however I notice that White's arch is much more pronounce than Redwings or Chippewa, so can it damage your feet? and will those arch become less pronounce after months of wearing. Thanks!

What about the Irish Setter Wingshooter? I'm not a fan of the plastic welt on Thorogoods. If I get another moc toe? I'd prefer American Bison leather.

@@Bootlosophy Irish Setter was the original name of Redwing's classic moc toe. Redwing later started a different branch of the company called Irish Setter. I think the Wingshooter might be a little better than thorogood for manual labor. Especially in cold climates where plastic welts tend to crack very easily.

How do you spell the name of the traditional custodians of the land which you acknowledge at the start of your videos? Looking to Google them but unfortunately cannot figure out how to spell the name.

I know you've said several times that Thursday were your first quality stitched boot but unless I have misunderstood haven't you owned your C&J Coniston, RM Williams and Trickers boots a lot longer than the Thursday boots ? Before your addiction kicked in 🙂

@@Bootlosophy I understand the distinction. My boot "collection" has a much bigger proportion of UK and European boots and they are dressier generally.
