Nick, please look at the Meermin "Vaxy Commander" It's a winter boot, so great for a review soon. I think you'll like them. They have a dressy, narrow look to the them, and the shearling wool lining is to die for.

I feel like brands like Rancourt and Quoddy are kind of the sleeper hits of American footwear. Very steeped in tradition but for some reason they're not as huge in the heritage menswear scene like Red Wing or even the PNW bootmakers that many consider an upgrade from Red Wing. But they're a hell of a lot of shoe for the money and ludicrously comfortable. My Ranger Mocs by Rancourt are my favorite summer shoe by far, and I have a pair of double vamp 7" handsewn mocs (by the now defunct Maine Mountain Moccasin) that are my absolute favourites for long days of walking (especially on paved surfaces). Just endless comfort - truly like wearing a big leather sock.

Only MOC I like is the discontinued Red Wing "Sawmill" The crispy sole gets ugly real quick, and the traction is for urban, or indoor use only The stitching will also get discoloured as soon as you give the boot grease.

Yeah I think he meant there's marginally less leather encroaching onto the insole because it's one piece wrapped around. But the non-genuine moc toes tend to just be built more voluminously

They put some sort of foam material under the insole which ruins the point of true moccasin construction. True moccasin boots/shoes are very breathable and comfortable. Russell Moccasin sales their shoes/Boots in the $500-$600 because theirs are the real thing.

My Russells came with loose grain, the wrong sole, and poor customer service. All my Rancourts are perfect. Plus, Russells also has a foam layer. My Yuketens are the highest quality handsewns I've seen. The Rancourts are the best for money boot I've ever owned.
