I also love the idea of color eink. Even for taking notes, being able to highlight and put different colors would be great.

I might be a buyer if they could get the price down. Maybe we will see some Black Friday deals. I’d like to see it for $149. Great review!

I think B&W is the way to go at the moment. Colour will be better in 5 to 10 years.
@keyboard_g4 ай бұрын
Even that I doubt. Color e-ink has been around a while now. There isn’t high demand, and no competition among manufacturers. I’m leaning 10+.

Thank you for this review. It's nice to see how far they are coming with color e-ink but also see how far they still have to go. I still don't think they are ready for prime time with the low resolution screen compared to their B&W counterparts. At any rate, your review also sent me to Amazon to grab some Star Trek comic books and I will enjoy them on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 😁😁

Boox Drop is probably just using Samba (or WebDAV) which is standard. RetroPie does the same. That shouldn't be accessible off your local network so I wouldn't worry much. I have a PocketBook Color. It's excellent for comics & other books with color. The display never quite gets white though. It gets down to a very light gray. For that reason I don't use it for the majority of my ebook reading, defaulting to my Kobo H20.

@2:50 different PPI for color vs BW. Does that mean if there's any color on screen it's all at the 150 ppi? Or do those mix so BW elements are 300ppi but color elements are 150?

Does this ebook give the option to turn off the colors / grayscaling? I love that it has a microSD and USB C connection, not many other ebooks offer this combo, meaning that I can offload all my manga's.

I'd pay extra if the battery could easily be replaced. Seriously, when are we going to get battery options to help devices last longer? I'd love to change the battery on my Oasis, but of course, it's impossible.

@angrysarcasm2229 Kobo sells eraders with repairable screens and exchangeable batteries.

All the kobos I’ve used offer that through ifixit. I never popped open my kindle. But agreed, we shouldn’t be forced to buy a new device because a battery is dying. Brooks are slow by design and reading a book is slow by nature. Don’t really need all that speed.

Thanks for the detailed review video for the very niche tablet. I have a question, would the size of the device be suitable for reading IT books, or is it too small for that? Such technical books often have smaller text and also some illustrations.
@LonSeidman28 күн бұрын
I'd say it's a little too small for that. There are a few larger letter / a4 tablets that'll do a little better.

I don't think I would use my real account on this. Perhaps a disposable Google account. Maybe the disposable account could be added as a family member or something to access paid content.

Anyone know if there is a good service for syncing Apple Books to an eReader? All of my digital ebooks and PDF magazines are DRM free and backed up to Apple Books. I still want everything on Apple Books so I can use my iPad for larger magazines and I can read my books if I don’t have an eReader with me. But also I would like to avoid having to update a separate ecosystem or device every time I get a new book to add to Apple books. To reiterate, my books were not purchased from Apple and I can freely download them from Apple’s Books app on Mac and move them to another service one by one, but I am hoping there is a service to have all my stuff synced.

Not worried about the security part. I would use a fake email anyway. I might buy one this weekend.
@MrFabtahiti9 күн бұрын
Also, there is an easy toggle to activate/deactivate the web server to drop boox, the security issue in this regard is not too relevant therefore. You will mostly use the ereader offline anyway to increase battery life. I have had mine for about a week and I really like it. Can be set exactly the way you want and once you do, it is very satisfying. I also don't have any ghosting now. Like you though, I didnt use my main Google account on it, but a secondary one, I dont trust it 100% and I really don't want to put a password on it.

Kobo has the same thing (same screen), and you can get a stylus for it. They also have a smaller version, (6") no stylus support for it.
@angiem11243 ай бұрын
But can you get kindle and other apps?
@jela97062 ай бұрын
@@kippshinabarger8110 its the Kobo Libra Color for the stylus one and Kobo Clara Color for the non-stylus bit smaller and more compact. Although non of the Kobo has android capabilities and they have their own Kobo ecosystem just like Kindle.

This is a message to you in three years. On this day in 2027 I guarantee you this company is out of business. Between this product and the little phon they both have major drawbacks. People aren’t gonna be accepting of that movement on the screen that’s so poor. And the other one has no use case. Mets in 24 is my other prediction.
