Made this tonight and enjoyed it quite a bit. I have a bottle of both Green and Yellow Chartreuse and used Yellow this time, so tomorrow I'll have to make it again with Green.

Tasty drink as always! My go to replacement for Green Chartreuse is Boomsma Cloosterbitter. Oddly enough, it's much easier to find for me in the Midwest and of the potential replacements that I've tried think it's the closest to the original.

I have never tried that substitute, but I am always on the lookout for good options.

A good substitute for Green Chartreuse is Dolin Genepy Le Chamois
@boozeontherocks29 күн бұрын
I will see if i can find that.

Faccia Bruto is a decent green chartreuse substitute. Not exactly the same, but in cocktails it works well.

I will have to see if IU can source some.

Hmmm.. the gin.. well David, my go-to is Tanqueray but I think that Bombay Sapphire would be great with this

I wonder if Elderflower liquor would work in place of the chartreuse.
@boozeontherocks27 күн бұрын
That would definitely make a change but it would be in a good way.

I would combine it with Hendricks Amazonia, if I had it on hand👏... is my favorite of the major gin brands....Too bad it's a bit expensive .😊 Best Chartreuse alternatives: Faccia Brutto Centerbe , Dolin’s Génépy le Chamois or Strega😉...but I think I'll combine : Tanqueray Gin with Galliano Vanilla ( contains more than 30 herbs and herbs, undergoing a process of seven infusions and six distillations) It has delicious notes of vanilla, marzipan, ginger and a touch of spices. What do you think? Does the combination of Tanqueray Gin with Galliano Vanilla work? 🙂
@boozeontherocks29 күн бұрын
Hi Liana, I think that combination would work very well :)

@boozeontherocks27 күн бұрын
That's fair. You can swap in a vodka if you would prefer.

This recipe has made me hundreds of dollars behind the bar betting people that I can get them to like gin: In a shaker- 1.5oz nolets gin, .75oz fresh lemon juice, .75oz simple syrup, .75oz st Germain elderberry flower liquor, 3 thick slices of cucumber. Shake with ice and strain into a pint glass filled with ice. Top with soda water and garnish with a cucumber wheel. This is a sort of mutant version of a "last word." An absolutely delicious and approachable gin cocktail.
