Dude is a genius with silence. May sound crazy but silence can be a verbal weapon. He did a mild pause after saying "stand up" and all it took is for just one person to fall for it, and everyone else in the room will follow it too. Amazing exploit. When people in their heads believe every moment has to be filled with something, anything, and when silence happens, their brain tries to fill that silence with something. So eventually someone stands up. Its crazy. But also scary. All of us are probably vulnerable to a lot of these "mind control" techniques.

I believe the production team had kept the full intent under wraps and were vague, only giving the necessary parties the information of him doing a documentary for Kazakhstan. So everyone in the original film was very much unaware of how Borat was and that the entire thing was satirical, leading to the greatness that it is. Also, kind of how Borat 2 doesn't have the same charm.

@@LeoDragon34 Uhhhhh.... no, no it's not. It's satire, and it sheds light on unfortunate truths about social constructs and certain aspects of human nature / daily life. It has very little to do with "not being able to troll due to my crippling social anxiety." The only thing that makes me cringe in this video is how stupid the children leaving comments are becoming... at a very alarming rate I might add.
@LeoDragon344 жыл бұрын
Mavis Beacon - woah, steady. I think you’ve seen 2+2 in my post and arrived at 11,358. When I said “that’s the whole point”, I was talking about how the whole idea of Sacha Baron Cohen’s characters, whether as Borat, Ali G or any of his other characters, is to make you cringe - to challenge social, racial, sexual and cultural stereotyping. And I absolutely stand by that. Yes, of course it’s satire, in its most extreme form, and a lot of people are deeply uncomfortable with that. Whether you find it funny or not depends on how comfortable you are to be challenged yourself. The British, from where he has been brought up (though Jewish himself of course) have no problem laughing at themselves. Others find it utterly cringeworthy, and that was my point.
