I'm Turkish and I love Hungarians. We say "Eğri" Castle. Hungarians are sons of Attila.

No they are not. Attila was the leader of the Huns, a tribe that dominated Asia in the 5th century and even formed an empire with other tribes like Ostrogoths, Alans, Bulgars. He became famous for his incursions in Europe. The Magyars were an alliance of tribes from the Ural mountains not related to the Huns. They came to Europe much later in the 9th century. The myth of Hungarians being the "sons of Attila" appeared in the middle ages, in various fantastic stories about a giant that was the father of two brothers, Hunor and Magor, who founded the Hunic and Magyar tribes. In the middle ages, most people were illiterate and liked this kind of fantastic stories, just like the Vikings were fond of their sagas. Sadly, politicians have abused such fantastic stories to raise nationalistic feelings and it worked: some people want to believe stories about dragons and giants more than the reality, hence the myth is staying popular even today.

The text of the song came from old fragmentations of chronicles from mid-16th century, hard to translate it in that style, so I'll try to translate the raw content with some explanation of names: Eger is the castle sieged (unsuccesfully) by Ottomans who were btw 30-50 times more than the Hungarian defenders so it was a glorious victory. Dobó (István) was the captain of the castle. Hungarians, you worship God, and give great thanksgiving to him. Those, who dwell in this side of the river Tisza say a lot of good to the heroes of Eger You hear the departure of the Turks, the arriving of the Pashas under Eger, the many cannons that cause terrible deterioration, the many Turks who fell under the siege A terrible siege had begun, No one was standing inside then, The valiant Dobó was in an earthen bastion, encouraging his people to fight. There they beat drum and copper drums, Loud whistles sound with trumpets, A lot of shots and wall collapsing killed many of the two sides, but many more of the Turks, They died, many were wounded, The heroes of the castle won the flag. (the original medieval writer started to write about himself:) Who wrote this poem while he was very ill, in a smoky room of the wealthy city of Kassa, is called Tinód allover in this country, in one thousand five hundred and fifty-three. When he was wandering Hungary, people drank his words, he was the herald of heroic deeds and he became a famous chronicler (the last two paragraph is repeated a few times till the end)
