I know Ireland is in the Schengen area, but I"m pretty sure you still need a passport to travel between the countries in the EU.

So technically doesn’t need a passport to enter Ireland from the EU but needs ID but there are border checks, there are no border checks between Schengen countries and technically none between Ireland and the UK (Ireland does check though, but they’ve never actually opened my passport or looked at my driving licence just checked it was British).. UK doesn’t even do that

I travelled through the Irish border control at Dublin airport a few years before this and remember watching this when it came out in 2018, all I can say it’s the slackest border I’ve ever been through. After arriving from Amsterdam I didn’t have a sniffer dog anywhere near me and I remember saying to my wife, if a dog is roaming around don’t pat them 🐕. I arrived back in Australia on that same trip and four young British guys were talking loudly about giving shit to the border patrol here in Oz after having seen them on TV. I reminded them that they’re not in the country until you get through the gate and these guys will happily stick you back on a plane, at your expense for another 24-25 hours flight home and that these guys scare the shit out of me and I live here, no more said! @@ardakolimsky7107 Because the same show called border control is shown about Australia 🇦🇺 and is a shitload tougher than anything they’ve shown on this show. After leaving a equivalent of a drug house after staying there for just a week and never having smoked anything my clothes would’ve still reeked of Marijuana smoke. Advising someone you’ve just returned from Amsterdam in Holland of all places would’ve raised red flags almost anywhere yet we just wandered through there with hardly a border patrol person insight. I’m surprised I can’t even remember if they checked my passport being inside the Schengen area they possibly didn’t bother? When you arrive in Sydney you get really check out by our Boarder Security, if you had you ever watched the show itself( KZbin it ) and you might understand. NSW in Oz
