I've only been to Ireland before the last of the family emigrated. Before that visit, I only ever experienced visiting the US. The border agent was stressfully friendly. That's my responsibility. Ireland is the gateway to those who want entry to the UK, where they hope to get work driving taxis. They also want access to generous British state benefits. Ireland won't give them that, because they need to live and work there in order to qualify. Ireland is a small country. It doesn't have housing for so many immigrants, especially knowing where they are bound. Border guards have enough to do.

It's great to be polite and welcoming. But their job is to protect the border. As long as it's done, thumbs up.

I'm a mariner, the guy saying they have to check 5 10 or 100 percent of vehicles is complete bullshit 😂😂. It's called the isps code, level 3 doesn't mean more checks, it means it's shutdown

Actually i changed my mind on my last comment, officer lally SHOULD be in charge when all the undocumented waltz in. Maybe then we wouldnt have the problems we have now.

The only people that moan about unmarked cars are the ones who drive badly when they can't see a marked car.

As far as speaking English is concerned the Irish accent is extremely difficult to understand for ESL travellers. I have a Persian native language colleague who after 30 years of English practice can't follow another colleague who has a strong Irish accent. His proficiency in Australian English is 100%, but that is no help with the Irish brogue

Unlike what others are saying the bald dude is a good representative of Ireland. Many of them are like that and also have a strong dislike of foreigners.
