Eli Roth definitely put actual heart and his soul into Thanksgiving...so yes...I think Robert Rodriguez is similar to eli roth, and Rodriguez could've easily pulled off A Borderlands film, R rated...

Tales from the borderlands is the best borderlands experience if you want story and characters It’s a telltale borderlands game which means the whole focus of the game is the story and characters

Edit: but no, seriously, this movie was boring af, had awful dialogue, was written too much like a video game, with “go here, collect this item, fight the bad guys and get exposition” writing and Kevin Hart and Cate Blanchett are seriously miscast (especially, when, even I, as someone who knows only 2 things about Borderlands and that’s jack and sh*t, could easily tell that Blanchett’s character is supposed to be half her irl age)

Apparently Take Two’s CEO is trying to say “give the film a chance” I’m not a major Borderlands fan but this did not look like Borderlands from the trailer and looked like a studio trying to cash in on the Gunn formula for Guardians. Rather than be what the game is. If fans feel like they’ve been insulted because they love the game. Why should they give it a chance? I get they need to make their money back but they should have thought about that when they were planning. I asked my friends last week how badly do they think this is gonna bomb.

I havent seen the movie, but bruh. Borderlands 2 had one of the best campaigns ever. 3 was definitely a miss and 1 was non existent but after they realized how bad they did with 1 they seriously amped up the story telling and lore with 2 and the pre sequel, which was an incredible game it just didnt get the dlc fans were promised after they shut down 2k Australia

Yes this movie was a flop but the Borderlands games are basically if Mad Max were to be directed by Eli Roth. To say they're not story driven is a bit insane just because the game didn't have cutscenes. It was literally based off of Mad Max so it absolutely should translate well to cinema. The problem was Randy Pissford and his incessant trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Just because he has money doesn't mean he'll make a good movie. He forced it and it wasn't organic so the film was a flop.
