I talk like that sometimes, some of my Japanese buddies worked hard to develop the slang needed to talk like that, some of my Spanish and French friends talk like that when they're being ironic, and some of the people I met in Korea talk like that because they learned English from movies. On the subject of hitpoints in d+d, one d+d spin-off named Spycraft (for Bond and Metal-gear games) actually split characters' health into two types, one for your luck, grit and plot armour, and one for when you're actually losing limbs and gaining orifices.

I used to work across the street from that building!! No signs, no nothing, a gated entryway smack dab in the middle of the city (It's very difficult to get a glimpse of the door - Walked past it for months, I'm still not sure where the door is) It's so out of place too, there's just this one enormous building smack dab on a block by itself and all the blocks around it are small bodegas, pizzerias and the like. Even after a year of working in the area I never got used to it

Hp in D&D is meant to be a mix of Luck and endurance. So you can take some damage, but how it actually expresses itself in the narrative is something like: You take the hit on your shield but it jars your arm. You just barely get your weapon up to parry it in time. It dents in some of your armor giving a big bruise but no real damage. So, healing potions and spells will most of the time, instead of healing physical wounds, restore energy more than anything. So, a Red Bull is a Health Potion.

A cool not well known secret about Assassin's creed 1 is that Altair doesn't actually have a health bar. It is a de-synchronisation bar. According to lore, Altair is so good that he never got hurt in combat, so everytime you get hit, the bar goes down due to you( the player) not following history

The good thing about Tediore guns is the less ammo you've used in the clip, the more powerful the gun is when you throw it: ie: If you use 2 out of 10 bullets, your gun is worth 8 when it explodes.

hit points are like stamina, resolve, posture, stress, whatever. taking damage does not mean you got stabbed it means you over extended yourself.

Let's talk about hit points. Hit points are an abstract way of measuring how often a character can be struck. Hit points don't measure how often a person can be wounded although the separation between the two is intentionally vague. Consider if you will a level one scribe. A dagger across the throat is very likely to kill him, and yet your level 10 fighter shrugs off a blow from a +5 holy vorpal flaming longsword of human slaying. To be fair, a dagger across the throat also has a good chance to kill your fighter but in the middle of combat she is going to be a lot harder to work into a position where dagger+throat works. So what are hit points? They are a combination of a variety of things that make a creature or object more resilient. A fighter might be adapt at positioning so the attacker can't get a clean hit, or has armour that gets dented over time. A cleric might have a deities blessing that mitigates the force of a blow at the last minute in ways undetectable to observation, a monk (or knight) may have such strength of will that "'tis but a scratch." Or maybe is just a minor wound that slowly builds over the course of battle further fatiguing you until that last fatal blow. As cooperative storytellers you have the power to decide what your hit points are. Maybe if an attack clears out half your hit points you might describe it as a solid hit against your head that leaves your legs feeling like jelly. Another attack like that could well be fatal.... The Long Lines Building (33 Thomas Street) is a telephony switching exchange (one of the 2-3 that serve Manhattan). It is wall-to-wall switching equipment and computers. The humans are an ... afterthought. No window views required. The Verizon office building has windows....blacked out and sealed against disgruntled employees.
