+Fozzer De They do have a capacitor it's just it doesn't have a visible part, however if a shield spawns with a Maliwan capacitor it'll have the prefix grounded/alkaline/inflammable with Shock/corrosive/fire immunity respectively. If a shield spawns with a Torgue Capacitor it'll always have a Blast-proof prefix and a resistance to explosive damage. As for Tediore there's no prefix but you can identify the part as Tediore is the only one with no visible component

The Pangolin battery also uses the exact same model from the Maliwan one. The only way to tell which one you have is by looking at the shield's stats.

Hey Bahroo, it might just be me but, if you were to have level one items (so the numbers are smaller) it would make comparisons easier. Especially to those new to the series. With smaller numbers the differences can be a bit more noticeable. Once again this might just be me.

Ok so this is the one thing I’m always wondering, we know what the specific parts are but not given a clear answer as to what they do. We can connect what the capacitor does, but what about the battery and the body? Does the battery effect the recharge rate AND delay, does the body effect the special?! And yes, I’ve checked the Reddit forums and wiki. Nothing explains them. So could someone who knows explain? All I need is the clarification on which part effects the different part of the shield.

I know, right??? I've been thinking the same thing for years. Shields parts seem to be the least explained item. I mean I get his explanation that you want Maliwan for the best amp, nova, roid, etc. But which one of those 3 parts (capacitor, body, battery) affects those stats???

iirc then all parts have the same impact. Having for example a shield with Maliwan Body and everything else Hyperion is as good as a shield with a Maliwan Battery and Hyperio Capacitor + Body . The only thing a capacitor dies different is if it is a Torgue one, then you get a bit of blast resistance. If you get a Maliwan Capacitor (you cant see it) then you get either a alkaline (corrosion resistance) grounded (shock resistance) or inflammable (fire resistance). You also get the bonus of a maliwan part (see body and battery, -> best special) so best Bee shield would be for example a Maliwan Battery, Torgue Body (can only get Torgue) and for example a Inflammable prefix, which makes the capacitor Maliwan

I have a two questions 1.Do all three parts contribute to stats evenly or do some parts effect some stats more? (For example would a shield with a Maliwan capacitor, Vladoff body and Hyperion battery have the same stats as a shield with a Vladoff capacitor, Hyperion body and Maliwan battery?) 2.Does matching parts to the manufacturer of the shield give it better stats (like with guns)?

I'm currently running a OP5 Krieg Hellborn build and am looking to upgrade my Flame of the Firehawk. Based upon your guide, I currently have a perfect Anshin FotF. If I wanted the best possible upgrade at OP5, what parts should I be looking for while I farm? I'd like to keep my Shield Recharge Delay over 6 secs, so I'm guessing I need something from Pangolin or Anshin for that. Highest Nova Damage & Radius I've seen at OP5 during my farming is about 2 - 2.2 MIL DMG & about 1500 - 1600 Radius, and based off of your guide I would need Maliwan or Hyperion parts. Recharge Rate is not something I'm too worried about, but I figure something from Tediore or Bandit manufacturers would be best. You're the expert, though. I defer to your expertise. Thanks in advance. Your vids are really helpful and I've learned a lot about playing Borderlands like a pro from watching them. Keep up the good work!

|Pretty sure you want the highest special ability possible on the hide. Both zer0 and krieg have ways of keeping shields down. Deception and grenades at your feet or just setting yourself on fire. Anyway, you want that dmg increase.

Because The Sham can't have a Maliwan capacitor; it can only have a Tediore, Vladof, Dahl or Hyperion capacitor. So Hyperion is the next best thing.

i always thought the recharge delay was the amount of time it took a shield to replenish itself after taking damage. never imagined it was the amount of time it takes the shield to complete regenerate its capacity. you learn something new every day.

any type pretty much. true vault hunter mode is easy with green gear and shields. when you are about to go into UVHM, or around level 50, you need really good gear all around

You don't pay for UVHM... ...You pay for the extra XP levels that make the UVHM difficulty useful. Otherwise, don't bother going into it if your cap is 50.

All of these are very situational depending on who you are and what you are fighting. As you play through the game, you'll figure out what are the most useful for each situation.
