I don’t really want to talk about the Borderlands movie anymore as I made a terrible review on it 2 months ago, but I really think the reasons as to why the movie flop can be sum up to 3 reasons. 1 was that the movie’s story and some casting choices were a mess and just bad miscasting (Like Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis why!). 2 was that unlike other video game movies Borderlands wasn’t as popular as it was back in the Early to Mid 2010s, so an adaptation of it was bound to fail. And 3 is because the audience & critics who did see it hated it, and because of that, lots of people didn’t see it. That and Deadpool & Wolverine had already been in theaters but still. Compare that to the Super Mario Bros Movie where it can be enjoyed by anyone, including their family members, as well as the fact that Mario’s a pop culture icon, it makes more sense as to why the Mario movie was successful and was a box office success.
