I got tired of ice-skating constantly between battles so I created a breadboard that detected drive inputs and when set to 0 drive would use PIDs to completely arrest my movement. It was glorious and I could only do it thanks to your tutorials!

That's an interesting way to have an AI-controlled nuke, don't think I'd have ever thought of doing that The way that I personally found works best is to use the Attack Run 2.0 behaviour, with breakoff altitude and distance set to 0, and pitch to target distance to a few hundred meters. That way, instead of spiralling down, the missile dives pretty much straight onto the target, so the terminal phase is a lot shorter. And of course, you can do full custom breadboard guidance as well - and you can also make a breadboard missile "roll-agnostic", needing no roll control at all.

Now I want to put 'roll-agnostic' as my religion on the next bit of paperwork I do. 😛

How would you make a rollless craft? Is it by using only pitch and yaw.or.some other.mean?
@zuthalsoraniz6764
@zuthalsoraniz6764 9 ай бұрын
Yes, you only have pitch and yaw control, generally provided by the single thruster gimballing, and then use breadboard to convert in-world-space pitch and yaw commands into in-vehicle-space ones by multiplying with sine and cosine of the roll angle and adding/subtracting them as is necessary.

I'd really love to see tons of LUA Tutorials, like how to control ships, subs, and planes with LUA. How to use CWIS to shoot down missiles, & Missiles targeting aircrafts, ships. Nobodys seems to post videos on LUA and its really sad to be honest..... Anyways Much love BorderWise, keep up the great works!

Idk if that changed but if i recall correctly, nukes do not add to each others damage. The triggered nuke just blows up all the others. Frankly it's been so long, i am most certainly wrong here^^ Anyways, a happy new year to you and yours! Best wishes from Germany, Daniel

Cheers Daniel! Nukes do deal damage when destroyed, so yes stacking them does work. Only up to a point though, any more than 3 is usually overkill.

@@BorderWise12 They do do damage when destroyed however the game does not add the two nukes together for increased explosion radius. Instead its like detonating two nukes in the same place at different points in time. What ends up happening is that the first nuke basically destroyed everything in its AOE with the very edges of its aoe only taking damage rather then being completely destroyed (due to explosion fall off). The second nuke goes off in what is now empty space, its blast will reach the edge of the first ones AOE and do a bit of damage there damage but most of the explosion power is wasted on empty space. Two nukes on one missile do more damage then one however it is barely more to the point that I don't believe it is at all worth it. You are better off sending two separate missiles each with one nuke so both nukes actually explode on the surface of the vehicle rather than the void left by the first nuke (which is what happens with you put 2 nukes on 1 missile. This game is all about creative freedom so of course do whatever you prefer but this is just some info for people that like to min max efficiency.

Couple of recommendations for nukes in FTD I belive there are 2 viable propulsions 1. Small Jet Engine powered by a electric engine (Incredibly cheap and because its short lived the battery is enough to get it to target) 2. Steam Jet (Can work in space and underwater and is very power dence. It is inefficient but because it is short lived it does not matter) I would avoid Ion thrusters because they are slow, require an engine, and cost far to much for a suicide craft. Steam jets do what they do but better. Don't use more then one nuke, the damage increase is neglable. Nukes are expensive. It is much better to have 2 cheap nukes vehicle then stack 2 nukes on one vehicle. (I have a small jet engine nuke that costs 3k and a steam that costs 4k, the cost of the nuke is the vast majority of the cost of these vehicles) Pitch and yaw is easy as shown in this video, just use thrust vectoring. For roll there are two solutions. 1. Reaction wheels (many people dont know this but if you but a mass on a spin block it puts rotational torque on the vehicle when it spins) Put a spin block with a block of led on top and set it continuous rotation and for it to respond to the roll commands of the AI. Make sure the plane of rotation is the same as the roll of the vehicle) 2. You can ignore it breadboarding. (Its possible to do thrust vectoring such that it actively responds to the rotation of the vehicle so it can still work regardless of the rotation, I have a code written for just this. If you want it its in the official FTD discord in the loafboard repository, my tag on that discord is Nyaa, should not be hard to find not that many posts in that thread) I would highly recommend keeping the functional bits of the nuke in a 1x1 tube and then armoring it with 1 layer of alloy or applique. The main killer of nukes are small missiles and flack. Absolutly never have exposed components as they are easy to destroy which ruins the nuke. Drag is also super important as nukes need to be fast. The larger the nuke, the more thrust it needs, the more thrust it needs the more it cost and the less efficient it will be as a nuke. Generally for my nukes I just use an AI with a wireless snooper on one side breadboard on the other, a nuke in front of it and a steam jet in the back with a breadboard programed to ignore roll (reaction wheel would work too). This is all armored with one layer. Results in a fast, cheap and relatively durable nuke. Just my two cents, nice video

I’ve been wanting to make a couple of my aircraft to hover in one place to allow it to fire their crams and then disengage while reloading Was going to use ACBs but I guess I should try out the bread and get thrust vectoring in as well Maybe even add other shenanigans

I recently made a breadboard missile with the goal of making an extremely cheap missile with a high payload. I got it down ~1600 mats in cost and it can oneshot most DWs cheap ships like the marauder with a high travel distance. Wouldn't it be better to make a torpedo nuke instead of a flying one considering cost as a nuke capable of destroying air targets generally costs more and can be shot down? Can the flying breadboard be applicable to a torpedo?
@BorderWise12
@BorderWise12 Жыл бұрын
Yup, this bread can be applied to a torp nuke. Keeping them flying helps with airships, though.

Borderwise, for the SR-71 inspired plane I am working on for the custom campaign for the Sewowal republic and I plan to have the plane build nuclear torpedoes since they are extremely dangerous because torpedo interceptors ignore them and I have rarely seen them used.
