Star Citizen is an Open Development Alpha Project by Cloud Imperium. It is 2 Games really though, the Persistent Universe that aims to build a First Person MMO Space Sim that encompasses gameplay in ship & on ground, economy and pretty much anything else you can think of. It's built in the StarEngine (a modified Lumberyard Engine). You'll see massive Space Ships that you can fly with friends, land on planets, explore or whatever your way to whatever goal you choose. It's available to try in it's current Alpha State now, you can give feedback & influence the direction of the game BUT it is VERY ALPHA.
Squadron 42 is the Single Player Campaign of Star Citizen & the Spiritual Successor of Wing Commander. The Idea is the game is immersive, cinematic, beautiful & seamless... NO LOADING SCREENS once in game.
Both Games are currently in the Alpha of their development.
I am suspecting to see something more mainstream for Star Citizen's PU by the end of 2024 with permanent progression, though it will be a while after that before the game is considered "feature complete" which would be closer to 2025 in my opinion.
The are no dates for Squadron 42's Release Yet BUT it is now Feature Complete.
I am an Independent Content Creator & Star Citizen Fan. I am not paid by Cloud Imperium HOWEVER I am an Evocati Member and as such I am under an NDA for Closed Early Patch Tests of Star Citizen', known as the Evocati Test Flight (ETF). I had my first 'new' 30k tonight, the server paused, i got a 'please wait' message for about 20 sec, and it came back!

This happened to me as well. I was scraping a hammerhead with my vulture and when the server came back my contract was instantly abandoned and I got a two crime stat because I was doing an illegal tow. FML

Just be careful, there is no other way to get the helmet back on as it doesn't go into your inventory and I have had the hotkey get stuck and basically delete the helmet.

The helmet hotkey has been in the game for a long time, it just wasn't assigned by default. It's just the new animation, instead of going directly to inventory.

Something to remember: though Vulkan isn't optimized yet, if your system can handle it you should use it. The more people there are using it, the more CIG knows about what they need to optimize :)

This patch is so close to feeling like a game. I am still running into mission breaking bugs. Like the final enemies of bunker missions being in walls or invisible. And certain key items not spawning. If these can get fixed I am going to push for my friends to try during Invictus. I really hope CIG can fix these missions.

With the 30k and server crash recovery, one big note, don’t spam a bunch of actions (ie: Call Elevator). Once everything spins up it starts processing the back log of actions with some lag between, so if you hit the elevator button 85 times, you’re going to be waiting a longer time. Just be patient and chill for a few minutes

Back before you could lock your ship, I used to love hiding in people's bathrooms until they took off, then I'd just stand behind their captain's chair and look over their shoulder while they flew until they noticed me, then run towards & jump out the back as soon as I noticed their get-out-of-chair animation beginning. Ive found the mass drivers are great on paper, but they fire as soon as they are charged, so theyre VERY hard to hit with while in a dogfight. I would use them a lot more if they fired on button release after they fully charge

One big bonus for me personally I wasn't expecting: you can now see other planets from across the solar system (assuming their illuminated side is facing you). This means you can see them approach you during your entire QT jump to that planet, there's never any pop-in of the planet graphic as you approach now because you see it coming the entire way. Also the hitching/chunking in fps just as you drop out of QT in front of the new planet is largely gone, I suspect due to the DLSS.

Most impactfull features od 3.23 on my gameplay is small internal inventory in ships and boxes/lockers/external storage overall bugs, so we have less space for loot and even when we take some storage boxes from cargo center we can't use them at all.

"Ships interactions are better" SOME are, some seem very broken, such as the Vulture ladders and the MSRs light switches that I've encountered.

Almost lost my starter Auec from salvage bugs. I start with 5k, if you mess up the intro salvage missions you may nbot be able to do any missions untill you srape up soem cash elsewhere.

@@jaykay5838 Panel salvage is free and is back to being very viable and lucrative with this patch. They now scan at distance, but disappear at about 3.5kish, but once you get the hang of it, it's quite easy to find panels and quickly fill your Vulture with RMC.

3.23 is really enjoyable! The helmet can now be attached to the hip (so it disappears from inventory), the keybind is a bit hit and miss, but it works sometimes (and this feature has been reported as a potential bug on IC, so it may be a bug ... but it may also be a feature...)

Something you didn't know about. Clothing like jackets count as a backpack so if you have spare magazines in you jacket you can reload from that. Pistols and multicolor can now attach to pants. So basically you can clear out a bunker with no armor if you want. Just make sure you can breathe.

3.23 experience so far, go to buy ship, realize I’m broke, decide to fly the penguin, gets gunned down by 4 anti air at bunker, take penguin again now with hover bike and fly to bunker, complete mission and now heading back to ship, realize low grav=high speed on bike, fly through the air for 2.45s before crashing into penguin and causing a crater to form where it once stood. 10/10 gameplay

The whole point of a sniper is locating a advantageous location and use your surroundings to not be seen which includes foliage such as tiny shrubs and such. Its not about it being unfair. Thats just how anything involving a sniper is utilized in the real world. They dont turn on a LED light whenever they decide to scope in. If fairness is the issue then the sniper should be able to shoot full auto with no recoil. You normally only get 1 shot before your location is found by others unless you did A GREAT JOB USING YOUR SURROUNDINGS TO MASK YOUR SHOOTING LOCATION and not have that given away by an arbitrary flash light that turns on when you decide to use a sniper for its purpose.
