I found a sentry 1150 in my basement and my mom and I had no idea what was in it. After using this trick to open it I found all these gold and collectible coins that my late father had collected! This was super helpful and allowed me to “unlock” (pun intended) a part of my childhood that I had almost forgotten about! Thanks man! Good stuff

You do NOT need to use a paperclip, or anything else that could break in there. You just get a screwdriver, another key that fits the hole, or even a pair of scissor and keep jiggling (not "thrusting") while turning to the left. That's it.

Do these lock automatically when shut, or do you have to manually lock with keys. This will tell me if the keys are locked in the safe... or I just need to spend some time looking for them.

@@BoredLockpicker I solved it. Turns out the key was hit while in lock. Half broken off in lock. Found keys nearby(one and a half keys). All is fine now. Not sure how to remove half lodged in lock... but at least it's open.

We busted the lock unfortunately trying this, just couldn't get it to line up. If you are there too, worst case... if you don't care about the safe... just use the back of a hammer or a crowbar, thing pops open with no force at all.

I can’t get one of the pins to go up at all and I tried to put less tension but it still won’t go up and the others that were set pop back down so I I’m not putting too much tension any ideas on what I can do? Does it maybe just need lube? Could I use windex or something if I don’t have any lube to use.

Turn the key too far to the left and the plastic studs on the latch will fall off rendering the lock unusable. It will probably spill open in a fire if it gets turned over. Not much protection at all. Also, there is no gasketing to keep paper eating bugs out.

Jay Rod I’m a locksmith. I just cut it. You can order them online or go to a locksmith. The code on the lock is what you need

Lock has to be in the position it would normally be in to insert the key. If it’s in the back of the lock you’ll have to lift the wafers up and use something to snag the key and pull it out. Amazon sells broken key extractors. Other option would just be to bring it to a locksmith. Probably only cost a few bucks for them to get it out.

Do you know where to get the key code for 1170 Sentry Safe? It is not stamped on the lock face like your safe. Assuming I can open this by picking it, will the serial number tell me anything? I know the format is 3?S with the ? replaced by a letter....Sentry wants $30 for two replacement keys which is ridiculous for a $50 safe...

if it isnt stamped on the lock face it isnt going to be anywhere. I would charge twenty in my shop to make keys if you brought the lock to me.
