I think some people are so quick to write off this film as slasher garbage that they don't stop and realize how beautiful this track is - and how _sad_ the _story_ is.
@Hudpix169 жыл бұрын
+TayInTheWay It's one of those cases in which the music is better than the film. Not that the film is bad, but if you hear this track alone you'd never think that it comes from a film like that. It kind of shows serenity and peace at the end, even if we don't know what's gonna happen next.

Indeed. Even more tragic is Jason's story. He wasn't evil incarnate, or a possessed creature, but an innocent kid who got a very raw deal in life. He then saw his mother murdered. Sorry, but I get where Jason is coming from. He never asked for any of this.

That's exactly right. The very best era in horror films was the 70s and 80s. The fact that they are old makes them even creepier, kinda like being in an old house.
@lw36464 жыл бұрын
The films have aged really well too because they avoided alot of the things which would have really aged them. Working in a summer camp in 2020 would look similar to this. Any retro tech doesn't really feature in the first 6 films, the kind of stuff which really dates a film now. We don't have loads of outdated pop culture references either. There's no CGI either or animation or anything, its all practical effects filmed on real locations and shot on 35mm film which is why when they did the high defintion restoration transfer to Blu Ray these films look so gorgeous today. Its why a film made in 1979 looks so much better than Jason X shot in 2001.
@mrExcellent1014 жыл бұрын

When Friday the 13th begins, you know it’s going to be a low budget, okay Slasher. As it goes on, kills her awesome and gruesome, and you wonder, who’s the killer? Crazy Ralph? Steve? Who could it be? Then, Betsy Palmer walks in, all smiles and serenity, playing a character named Mrs. Voorhees. The tone of her voice changes slowly, making you confused…she snaps. She grabs a knife, and you’re fearing for your knife along with Alice. After a great climactic chase, serenity fills the air, with this song. You get a fantastic jump scare, and a chilling end line, but then this song plays once more, all the way through. Soothing, but filled with so much sadness. Yes, Mrs. Voorhees was an awful woman. But all she wanted was her little boy back. And…there was nothing she could do. If you let the original ending sit with you, it hints Jason may be alive, but he’s trapped down there. Maybe it’s his spirit, or some sort of projection of himself. Believe me, I love a guy in a mask killing people one by one. But this one has an ending that breaks my heart, and has resonated with me my entire life.

Reverb Filter, Delay Filter, Echo Filter. Use an EQ to cut down the lower and higher frequencies to make it sound like it's coming from a weaker speaker, etc. Around 48s you can hear a Cello in the background, and the main Drone is definitely using a Phaser filter.

This might be my favourite of the franchise. Its the most plausible, there's no zombie on the loose or unkillable monster, just a crazed mother who's all too human. The camp characters are all actually quite nice and decent. We don't get the super bitch characters and doches we get later on or the smug cowardly authority figure adults, just a group of nice relatable young people. I loved how it wasn't clear who the main focus would be on until the final 20 minutes so we don't know who the final girl will be or even who the killer could be. Its really nicely shot for a low budget film, lots of handheld but no shaky cam. There's a bit of sex there but they don't over do it . Alice is sweet 💕 and likeable, she does just enough to survive and you can tell see hates having to fight, its really traumatic but she manages to do it. Also unlike Laurie in Halloween or Nancy in Nightmare on Elm Street shes not a goody two shoes either. She smokes weed in the film and has a relationship with the owner, so that's a nice break from only the purest dullest person gets to live trope.

I find it a little ironic that this pretty and soft of a song was the closing bookend the first installment of a long running series. If anything, it almost seems more fitting to be used as the credits of final film. Now I'm not saying this song doesn't work for this movie and I'm certainly not saying it would work to close out Jason X. I'm just saying if they ever officially ended the series with Jason never to return, this would be the song to end it with.
