his Scriabin is so different, sumptuous and lyrical, from Richter or Horowitz, even catches moments of tenderness, unforgettable.

Indeed. And often v., v. beautiful. But in places uncomfortably bit rushed? E.g., the arpeggiations and generally the spacing in the left hand nocturne? (Perhaps it's just my ears!)
@orlandocfi6 жыл бұрын
MegaPetrof ...I agree with your assessment. I believe the main criticism in his performances is that he often rushes. The same has been said of Argerich and it certainly hasn’t hurt her career!

@@orlandocfi I think if there is one composer who’s work fits encourages a very spirited rubato it is maestro Scriabin.

I could listen to this recording of the cello sonata a thousand times and never tire of it

I agree. I love when Boris plays in the treble area while the cello descends to the lower notes. And indeed goes down one whole octave. Indescribably gorgeous.

RAGE AS RENOWNED RUSSIAN PIANIST CALLS FOR KYIV TO BE SHUT DOWN March 14, 2022 Among other appalling statements, he urges the military to cut off electricity from Kyiv. A military officer on the programme says, ‘that would create a humanitarian catastrophe’. Berezovsky does not seem bothered.
