Boris Johnson has said it was 'wholly appropriate' for the British warship that Russia claims it fired warning shots at to have travelled through disputed waters off Crimea. The British HMS Defender made a 36-minute passage through Crimean waters on Wednesday as the British ambassador to Moscow was summoned to the Kremlin after they declared that warning shots had been fired

Was it within 12 miles of the British coast, or some other definition of "our waters"? Also, Sevastopol is Russia's main Black Sea naval port, so the analogous situation would be a Russian destroyer within a few miles of Portsmouth.
