You are right! Impossible not to like. I first saw him late on a January Friday night in 1964, during a Shock Theater broadcast of The Bride Of Frankenstein. Being only five and a half years old, I was unable to stay awake for very long after my parents woke me---I can remember only the scene in the blind man' hut, and the scene where they chain the monster into a chair in a cellar of some prison. But, in my childish way, I saw through the make-up to the human being underneath it. Later, although I would find Lon Chaney's and Bela Lugosi's performances as the Monster somewhat scary (that smile of Lugosi's, near the climax of Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man chills me to this day), I never feared Karloff's Monster. As I grew, especially in adolescence. I was made---by my peers and classmates---to feel different, through no fault of my own. Karloff's Monster, and, later, knowledge of Mary Shelley's intentions in writing the novel, helped me get through---no, strike that and put in SURVIVE---that difficult time.

@@J-Called Have you read my blog? Watched my videos? I wrote the above 4 years ago. I used to like this guy. I found out what he truly was, putting the pieces together. He was a slimeball and he was attracted to little kiddies. Sad but true! Proof at my videos.
@irened.
@irened. 2 жыл бұрын
@@J-Called Sorry it is a nice anecdote you wrote but one, sadly, must grow up and let go of childhood fantasies. Bela Lugosi was the complete opposite of what I expected him to be, the opposite of what he was portrayed as being. Bela was a great guy, with human faults, of course, but nothing compares to B.K.s faults. He was first exposed by Greg Nesteroff in his newsletter. I didn't know about him until I was well on my way to exposing him. My channel originally dedicated to Bela became devoted to exposing B.K and what a slime he was. Sorry, you seem really nice.. BK NEVER had to survive, he was a L.I.A.R even his daughter said so. Bela starved, had to survive. I know that life very well. Meanwhile BK worked as a REALTOR I dug up proof from a theater pamphlet and Greg dug up proof from his marriage records. It's all true, sadly. He evicted little old ladies, newly widowed. He was WORSE than his worse character. He was into little children, he was the HARVEY WEINSTEIN & JEFFREY EPSTEIN of his time. He started the Hollywood c @ b @ L. Look it up at my channel.

Butter Nut coffee is still available. I tried it and it is good. The instant is labeled espresso. It is darker than other instant coffees, which is good because we older folks sometimes have a weakened sense of taste. The Butter Nut instant has a bolder taste, so I have found my new coffee.

Butternut did several of these "act-along" commercials with such as Pat O'Brien, Joe E. Brown, Joan Blondell, and others. Cesar Romero also did one of these, about the time that the Batman T.V. series (in which he played "Joker") was on the air. Romero played a wealthy man on a yacht who had everything he wanted, and who happened to like Butternut coffee. The end of the commercial was Romero being unhappy about not being able to buy Hawaii. To the viewer line "Don't be bitter," his tongue-in-cheek reply was: "I'm like Butternut coffee. I'm rich, but never bitter." I can't find a video of this commercial on KZbin.

Do treat yourself to a fine cup of Butternut Coffee-And then watch Boris Karloff's Thriller. The episode that I recommend the most is entitled: "The Grim Reaper". It'll SLASH it's way, right into your heart...if you should feel so bold, as to watch it! 'Tis a cutting story, fraught with fear, mystery, a bit of lust...and plenty of TERROR! Watch it-If you dare!!! 💀💀💀💀!

Offshoreorganbuilder You mean what do I mean? Well, he's a little too quirky, with that slightly campe voice. Don't get me wrong I like characters, and he seemed intelligent. But, look at the kinky stuff he used to film. That's just horror... right. In fact he said Frankenstein wasn't even horror, and that it was just a sad but thoughtful tale (lol). Check out Irene D's vids.

I questioned your use of 'perverse,' which didn't seem to make sense, to me: perverse /pəˈvəːs/ adjective showing a deliberate and obstinate desire to behave in a way that is unreasonable or unacceptable. "Kate's perverse decision not to cooperate held good" synonyms: awkward, contrary, difficult, unreasonable, uncooperative, unhelpful, obstructive, disobliging, unaccommodating, troublesome, tiresome, annoying, vexatious, obstreperous, disobedient, unmanageable, uncontrollable, recalcitrant, refractory, rebellious;
