Another awesome job, Phil. This brought back memories of seeing Boris Karloff in a TV show / soap opera my sister watched in the mid/late 60's called "Dark Shadows" wherein he played a vampire.

Fantastic paintwork on this! This is a concept that would work great with a lot of older actors and their iconic characters (Nimoy/Spock, Ford/Indy, etc).

Oh my goodness I was not expecting a start to finnish build in this video..... Awesome creation, .... When I started watching and got to the 11 minute stage I was thinking that they should be a way to light the candle, and had even strted a comment to say just that. I had paused the video to write the comment, but had not finnished it. I went back to the video and more or less the very next thing you talked about was putting a LED in to give the candle a lighted effect! And it has turned out great!

Thank You Phil for the Tutorial and Sharing. Much Appreciated. Frankenstein's Monster has had a soft spot in my heart sense childhood. Shadow Creations came up with a Cool concept, with Boris shaking Monsters hand. My criticism comes with the Karloff face sculpt, it Definitely isn't a Jeff Yagher sculpt. I think Yagher is one of the Best, if not the best Monster movie sculptor. Thanks Again Phil, Awesome job Indeed

Don't want to burst your bubble Phil, but when you mentioned that young people don't really care about the classic monster movies, my son is 28 years old and I initiated him to watch those classic movies and he loves them...😊😁 Great job on the painting of the model 👍

Your talking my kind of movies. I love the old classics. Boris, Lon and Bela all did some great movies. I have a DVD collection of their best films. Vincent Price, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee another set of actors I like. My dad proposed to my mom at the cinema while watching Dr Zhivago. Lara's theme became their tune. My favourite film of all time is The Wizard of Oz. It is era that sadly gone. But people like us will make sure those days are never forgotten. Great model Phil

For the candle flame you could use silicone sealant, which is transparent and slightly sculptable

That was quick! You did a wonderful job. Could you put an uplight on the poster on the back?

Thank you! I would have to scratch build a light box that extends outside of the alotted space to get the throw. I did think about that. Unfortunately the stage lights I picked up are shall we say no bueno!

Oh! Oggie must come up! I got to shake his hand in San Diego a couple months back. We had a great hour or two over a beer at One or another of those chain restaurants there. He is "Good People"!

When I first caught sight of the plinth and rocky -- what, architrave? or cistern? -- which was in the background of your last Enterprise D effort--- I thought it was a fallen soufflé! Well, it was in soft focus... Speaking of Lon Chaney, I think see quite a bit of him in this likeness. The pug nose and wicked grin. The Monster itself is only lacking in a license from Universal for a complete likeness. You should have gone for the original logo colors of the "Frankenstein" title in the back-- or even fluorescent colors. All in all, very nice.

Fun build and excellent paint work! Btw, do you recommend a vendor for custom decals? I have an old airplane kit of my grandfather’s that I am restoring.

Air Brushes: Something we see but don't notice when we watch Phil painting with his air brush. An airbrush ain't a spray gun. I made two huge rookie mistakes first time I used mine. I tried to paint an entire model with the brush. Took a month of Sundays. I blew acrylic through it with none of that gunk that slows the curing of the paint. Had to field strip the gun 5 times to pick the dry paint off the needle and out of the tip. Notice Phil uses the brush at the bench? He is painting small areas at short distance. No paint booth needed. I solved the "paint the whole thing" problem by accident. I bought one of those Testors Buck and a half airbrushes with the little bottle attached. They ARE spray guns in miniature. They also have no needles. "Spray and Pray. It covered like a rattle can. An air brush is an artist's brush, not a rattle can.

The yard guys: My first days of electronics school were in an 80's vintage business center. Big glass wall to the exterior behind us. Our lecturer proceeded as the yard men approached. just as the guy was blowing behind us and making it hard to hear, the instructor paused mid sentence and gestured to the window behind us. "See there, if you flunk out here, you can always become a Blow Man." Half the class was indigent, the other half were spitting their drinks over the table and choking on laughter. The Blow Man? Continued his growth career oblivious to the merriment within.

After reflecting on your comment I looked at the actual promotional photo that inspired the sculpt and I do believe that was their inspiration and intention. In plain English yes!😂

Phil, you are now permanently forbidden from saying you are a mediocre modeler ever again. The candle is better than the original by 200%. Looks like it b=sprung direct from the Haunted Mansion at Disney.
