Kudos on building two in different scales at the same time. Each with their own challenges and issues. I would really like to make the Mobius as a Navy recon and SEAL insertion vessel. Ditch the lab and map table, add a head (let's face it, you gotta have a head), and equipment storage area.

Really nice results for both kits Phil 👏. The display bases really take the models to the next level, particularly the smaller one. Shame about the potato head people but I doubt that will be noticeable from normal viewing distances. Maybe another project for Keith at Cozmic?

Very nice to see double the fun builds of these two reflections of the art! I think you could'a stuffed a little additional lighting in the lab ceiling- plus an instrument or two... The base choice is amazing at this remove from the issuance of both kits. One thing I must point out is that LED strip lighting works and looks just fine at 9V. Only dimmer. And there are dimmers made to ajust the light level to a finer degree. Great stuff, Phil.

Setting up mine for taillights, headlights, under hood orange blinking vent lights AND a flickering blue light in the rear center exhaust. Still working up the LEDs needed for using a single power 9v source. Currently at more than one 9v power supply needed, so pretty much at a standstill, I.e. paralysis thru analysis! 😢😊

Why not put just one little light in the smaller model, just so as you can see the detail inside! (just a thought, it's your model afterall)
@sprueVerse9 күн бұрын
You are not wrong. The real purpose of building both scales is to help out a friend who created the miniaturization base to display the Crows Nest kit and honor Drew Huffman. The base for it is lit and there is a cool sound module so the model will get light from above and below. It’s very cool!

Have this Moebius kit, but not prepared to attack it yet. The mods you're doing are really next level. You mentioned in Part I that you haven't built a Seaview yet. Any plans to do one in the semi-near future, and if so which one??? I have both in my stash, with all the accoutrement's, but just haven't got around to it yet.

You are coming the the Glue and Paper Guy in 70mm Dolby sound on this one. I've got you up on the 47 inch LCD connected to the newest member of the family, a $149 Mac Mini! The Literal first novel I ever read as a 4th grader was Fantastic Voyage. Needless to say, Proteus holds a special place in my heart. Just an FYI, the molded bottom of a cinnamon coated fried tortilla container has perfect hexagons in it. I save mine for a Proteus base some day.

Hi Phil, I am really enjoying this build tutorial video, and am so excited about all of your subsequent build videos!😃 Ironically, I have both the 15” Moebius and Drew Huffman’s Crow’s Nest (1:48 scale) Proteus model kits! I never knew the two kits were so close in the design of the parts! ☺️ I even have Drew’s Crows Nest small scale (3 1/2” longs?) Proteus, which Drew explained was part of the history behind the Crow’s Nest company name and this small scale model. For the Moebius kit, I just picked up the aftermarket kits from Paragraphix and Aztek Dummy through CultTVMan, and I already have the VoodooFX lighting kit.👍 Does Randy Cooper still offer his aftermarket resin detail parts kit? One thought about the Moebius laboratory room. Have you seen Lou Dalmaso’s Aztek Dummy build video of his Moebius kit where he cut open the port side of the dorsal hull section above the lab, and installed earth magnets to make the section removable? Lou did this so you could view the whole lab interior. Just a random thought.😉 Thanks again for this great model subject!

Hi Fritz, Randy can make you the aftermarket parts. I’m not sure you will really need them. My next video explains more! Happy belated New Year! Phil

Kudos for the double build. I love the movie, saw it with my father when it first came out (I was 9), and have watched it a couple of times since then on TCM. It would be interesting to build it as a USN recon/surveillance sub with the lab converted to bunks and a head. The light ring around the pilot is pretty silly but looked great on the screen. That was a great era for Hollywood.

It's nice to see Drew Huffman's work getting credit where it is do. Having built well over a dozen for Drew when he first offered them for clients as well as way too many Moebius versions, They both are indeed identical. Drew's kit is actually more detailed. In fact, the painting on the box of the Proteus of the Moebius kit IS one of my Drew Huffman builds flipped.
