It's actually a good thing his eyes aren't as "bugly" If a pug's eyes look bugly, it sometimes means their collars are too tight, they choke themselves on their leash when they go for walks, or they've been squeezed too hard for example, if someone hugs them too tight.

Definitely a good thing his eyes are not bulging. It may look cute, but it comes at a price. My poor puggy has very bulgy eyes, and while everyone says he's the cutest pug they've ever seen, he's had three BAD eye ulcers because of it, which cause him a lot of pain and impair his vision, not to mention are crazy expensive to deal with. We got him from Kijiji so we don't know his past, but my next pug will probably be a pup and we will pick one with less protruding eyes.
