I mean the movie isnt really there to show the power of the military, but more show the harsh realities of war on the mind. Id hate to break it to you, but no country has a military of robotic people. This isnt a portrayal of the american military, this is a portrayal of any solider and their struggles with their mind. If youre curious as to why hes crying, its because his best friend was shot and killed during that ambush right in front of him . You cant say you wouldnt have any emotion if you were in his shoes. They all know the risks of being in a war zone, but can they really be prepared for seeing a bunch of their friends die and feel nothing?

Saviorofdawn this whole story isn’t even true to experience. Troops suicide is a real thing and it’s sad because they DO have emotions towards the loss of comrades and sad reality of war but they’d always love their branch of service. No troop fends for himself, it’s extremely rare to see a case like this very rare. The last time we had a deserter was Bowe Bergdhal, guess what? All active duty and infantry man and men who have experienced war first hand fucking hate him. This movie is just completely inaccurate to what war is like. Brotherhood and bonding and caring for one another is very very real, never have I ever heard of soldier who fends for himself.

If this movie depicts Afghanistan, I'm sorry to say that the terrorists did not have heavy artilleries. Mortars, yes. IEDs, sure. Nothing that could do this level of damage to an American base. They did not attack in masse, but in small, guerilla-style attacks. House-to-house fighting was also big, with the city of Fallujah being one of the deadliest, but that was due to IEDs, snipers, and the like. They had no heavy artillary capable of this damage.

Fallujah is in Iraq, not Afghanistan. The terrorists did have heavy arty, mainly single shot recoilless rifles used in direct attack, (Extremely common in late war Afghanistan) and Chines manufactured 107mm Multi launch rochet systems, sometimes mounted on Technicals. These were used in Afghanistan and Iraq with sometimes devastating effect. There were also home-made MLRS and single shot rockets. Also, there were many instances especially in Afghanistan, were hundreds of Jihadists attacked at once.
