Band of Brothers: The bonds you make with the men you fight beside. The Pacific: Unflinching depiction of what war does to a person.

I feel Band of Brothers has small parts for what war does to someone, but that was kinda on the side where as here it's front and center.

@@Thephillips-dj1po Band of Brothers definitely had its moments. Mostly Bastogne, Foy, and Carentan. But The Pacific is incredibly brutal. And another thing I like is how John Basilone's story is used to demonstrate how even the decorated heroes may end up being just one more name on a long list of casualties. The overall "no heroes" theme of The Pacific is rather refreshing with how Hollywood war movies often glorify the protagonists.

The battle of the Tenaru was intense. The Japanese were confident their bayonet charges could do the job like they had against the Chinese, but then they encountered Marine firepower. I think no more than a dozen Japanese troops were taken prisoner, most of them unconscious.

Tragically rates* of PTSD per capita are worse in modern times. Back then the months it took to get back home allowed for more adjustment time. The larger population of vets gave them a larger community to relate to. Now with quick air travel and less people in the service can make PTSD even more isolating. Wars' tragedy always last multiple generations
