@jbach7274
@jbach7274 8 ай бұрын
By comparison: Chrissy seems like he's further down the trail, along with being pre-destined to addiction via both of his parents. As well as one of them being quite literally absent due to his untimely death. Christopher not having a father is portrayed so well. He's cursed in more ways then one from the get go, so many ways in fact. Almost by default, he's pressured by Tony into handling way more responsibility than he was ever made for. His father's almost mythical reputation casts a shadow over him too; in Tony's eyes, Chrissy is supposed to be the potential of being the mobster Dicky was. But all Chrissy ever had to look up to are these myths & legends, that cement his father as this flawless figure. As so many of those who grow up without guidance, he will never know the man he only recognizes through these tales. along with that, he will never know how the man lived, loved, and moved through the world. He will never know the hardships, nor will he know how he handled them. Chrissy is without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most depthy characters in the show.

Only if you speak Italian you can fully appreciate the power and peculiarity of this character: he speaks Italian with a Northern accent but the slang and the expressions are from the south, i.e. where "the cousins" come from, that's why they're dumbfounded when he briefs them about uncle Philly EDIT: briefs them about Rusty, the mayor of Munchkinland.

The dude speaks very weird Italian, a bizarre mix of northern and southern dialects so that's probably why they're so interested and ask where he's from. The actor who played the Italian talks about it in the comments of another KZbin video. Also his partner is an American actor who is speaking his Italian phonetically but apparently did a very good job.

@@chrisgionas4012 I too remember the Corky actor who commented on his Italian speaking ability in another yt video. His parents came from Northern Italy, so naturally he speaks Northern Italian as a second language. Northern Italian is quite different than it's southern counterpart. So the Italian actors gave "Corky" a crash course in southern Italian so that it sounds somewhat right on the show (but I guess it wasn't perfect). Casual viewers aren't going to pick up on that anyway though.

So this guy who plays Corky plays a character on an Adult Swim show called Neon Joe Werewolf Hunter and when my fiancé and I first started dating we watched it together and had a bunch of laughs but more importantly it was the first time I ever realized how much I love her. So last Christmas I had spent all my money for Xmas on my newborn baby I was short on money for a gift for my fiancée and I reached out to Edoardo Ballerini (guy why plays corky). I asked him and a few others from the cast of the show and asked if they could make a video for my fiancée for Christmas and he responded a few days later with the video and I’ve never seen my fiancé so happy, it was truly a Christmas miracle lol. These aren't accents, or variations of modern standard Italian (which is based on the language of 13th century Florence), they're completely different languages. I am from Napoli and if I met someone from Sicily and we each spoke Neapolitan and Sicilian respectively, we wouldn't be able to understand one another. Same goes for people from Venice and Florence. It's not a North vs South accent. It's languages. When you go to school in Italy you learn standard Italian. On TV, movies, mass media, etc, they all speak standard Italian, which enables someone from one region, North or South, to understand the other. This is a VERY complicated subject matter, but it is interesting. ARRIVEDERCI (Italian) STATEVE BBUONE (Neapolitan) 😂
