I often wrestle with the narrow road that Jesus spoke of. I do my best to take the narrow road but at times I fall short. I pray God have mercy on us all. May we continuously thank God for his son Jesus and for the peace He gives onto us.

@@chiliwalker8263 I know, that is something that is stressed by Paul and was stressed by Martin Luther during the Protestant reformation. However, we are still expected to follow the commandments of God. God’s commandments are a part of the narrow road that Jesus spoke of. That’s what I am referring to when I wrote my struggle. I truly believe we can stay true to the narrow road when Christ is within us. It’s the moments we separate ourselves by misusing or free will in which I pray for Gods mercy.

God loves you as you are and not as you should be. Because you’re never going to be as you should. No matter how hard you “try” to follow the narrow road you’re never going to stay on it. You have to learn to accept being accepted. That’s what I think Jesus means when he says the narrow road. Because many of us will turn to trying to turn to God and say look I did this bad thing but I did this good thing versus saying this is the bad thing I did accept me and forgive me for it

That is to say we should act like we came from nowhere(I.e erase our past or origin) and trust where the wind takes us. The wind is the holy spirit.

When you said many Christians are going to hell through the church I had to rewind it 3 times. I grew up in Church and went to Christian High School. It never felt right. I came in happy and left confused. The last time I stepped in a church was 2009. It was a Baptist church and the Pastor talked to me about his expensive climate controlled Baptist Tub and the Wednesday night volleyball games. Never went back. I pray daily and read the word and try to avoid any earthly “guidance” on the word because it’s probably false.

Over the years it got much better, reading the Bible. Remember Jesus talking of two man going to the temple and pray, one of them standing far away for he didn't feel worthy, bowing his head in shame and beating his breast praying: Lord have mercy of me sinner. Jesus declared him rightous! Remember the story of Simson of the Old Testament, who failed horrificly but yet turned to the Lord and is now counted as hero of faith in the book of hebrews in the New Testament. Well done I’m a baptist but there is no way of salvation except through Christ we do the baptism to simulate the washing of the sins away but you can and only 109% be saved through the belief of Jesus Christ and nothing else and I really liked your message

Yes, you have to be baptized...but it's not water, or oil, or whatever earthly liquid you want to use. It's the Holy Spirit! The thief on the cross is the ultimate example of what it takes to be saved. It's such a powerful example. Dying on the cross, hours from death. A life of sin. A life of rebellion against God. Yet, all it took was a change of heart and belief in what Christ has done! ❤

I've wrestled with doubting if my salvation was genuine recently. Because I've backslidden and have been lazy and lukewarm in truly putting the Lord first. I have really had to work on letting go of works-based salvation, having been raised Catholic. Lord show me the truth in my heart and show me any areas I haven't repented in.

Giving ourselves to God by guilt-ridden acts of repentance is a vain and insane routine. The value is not us giving our life to God which pays for sin, but the blood of Jesus sacrificed and lifted up to reconcile payment for all your sins in one shot (Romans 5b). Look to the sacrifice of Jesus and live Jill. Believe this simple MERCY and Obey this gospel or else continue to to die in your sins as you fail to properly modify your behaviors.

@bnf449 to clarify, I don't believe my works or "guilt-ridden acts of repentance" earn anyone salvation. If it took anything more than Jesus' sacrifice on that cross and the declaration that it is finished, if it at all depended on me, then yes I would be doomed and die in my sin. I was simply saying I've dealt with doubts about my salvation due to laziness in my faith, but I believe it's just a lie the enemy is trying to use to derail me. We all stumble, there is no perfect Christian who never sins or fails. Why would we need God's grace if this were the case? What matters is we have a contrite heart and turn away when God convicts us of these things rather than continuing to live in them without any conviction

Now: If we will lay hold of this mercy it will naturally, not be without a contrite heart. However if we (contrary to nature) think to emulate mere attributes of a contrite heart in exchange for his mercy we have flipped the gospel on its head.
