I have been listening and playing in metal and hardcore bands for 30 yrs.I am a lifer when it comes to heavy music. Most bands these days either lack originality, are too noisy or have weak emo parts. Born of Osiris is not one of those bands. I think they took prog metalcore to another level with this album. Heavy as fuck, the musicianship is insane. The new After the burial is vicious too. Winds of plague might have similar traits but the Keyboards on this cd are fucking ridiculous. Great shit.

Production is top notch too. The Keys, drums and guitars are amazing. I am glad they are finally getting some plays. Been a fan since the first disc and they have just gotten sicker & sicker. Great band

I would have to agree on your opinion on the production, Sumerian Records is good for that, but ill be it; I bloody hate damn near every band they have signed. Lol, it's a love hate relationship. Just not into most of thier band's aesthetic's. Composition is meh to for me here to. -(That being said though, that doesn't mean they actually are bad, as I am just one man with a one perception)

i really like the dubstep esque measure at the end. its all natural in terms of the individual members. The polygrithmic groove both guitarist introduce into that measure is very doable and has been utilized very well. so excited to hear this album at its fullest.

Yes! These too songs get blown out of the water according to the full album teaser. The rest seems to be really good. Especially "illusionist" and "vengeance". "A Higher Place" Is one of the few jewels in my CD collection.

Il admit, the guitar work isint as good as how it was in The Discovery, but the synths play SUCH AN AMAZING PART in this album that it makes me ignore that small issue. One of my top 3 favorite bands all day everyday. I love all their albums and listen to them everyday :)

I never said they were better with Jason Richardson. He brought a different sound to the band and made The Discovery a great album. While it sucks that he left, they will go back to their original sound which is also good. He is a great guitarist so I can appreciate what he did.

agree, ive listened to it again and ive realised some songs sticking out of the mass. but since ive been listening to this band since 2009, i have to say that my favourite songs by them are still on ''the new reign''. but its like with the faceless, their latest was more quiet and progressive, while their earlier work is more technical and aggressive, so i like it when a band has a variety of influences if they stick to their roots. this is more of a chugfest, but its still BOO greatness
