Thanks so much for making this doc. So inspiring, interesting and enriching. I liked to hear the testimony of first students of Urgyen Tulku Rinpoche, to watch the preparation & enthronment with well-known faces and the wonderful assembly. Good to hear Yangsi's parents about their experience , joy, compassion, faith...wonderful family ! ;-)

I see the issue you point out to be prevalent amongst many Indians as well, as far as thinking the teacher can cure them. Yes qualified teachers can indeed provide direct, opposed to verbal, introduction into the nature of mind, however this is miles away from curing them or forcing them into enlightenment. For this glimpse of the nature of mind is the path and not the fruit. Dharma is difficult for many, beyond simple or complex. Take it easy dear Mary McCool

+David Pirszel @ minute 29:34 The Bodhisattva's summarized the lessons of the Buddha. All the teachings were later shortened in to three sentences. Do not get distracted by the teachings, but focus on the heart essence of the mind By penetrating THIS al what is left will be liberated. you can check on 'Urgyen Tulku' in youtube and you'll find a perfect introduction/pointer.

If the teacher has trained in Tantra, which is almost certainly the case, then they should be able to function in this role to some degree. Therapists do not cure, but help show the way (however helpful, efficient, or limited) for the patient to cure themselves. Shakyamuni even stated he wasn't doctor or teacher, despite him at other times using this phraseology in an affirmative way to relay meaning, he was Awake.

Indeed, seems since they have purified there nature, they are of the family that has the propensity to be uptight about their knowledge or lack of. There are of course grounds to discuss and debate the relative efficiencies of methodology or philosophical distinctions, however it isn't exactly tactful when novices make a show of it. Unfortunately in my own travels, I have also seen many examples of westerners acting in a way that appears to be rooted in being full of themselves; takes time to fix

To be honest, it was very annoying for me to watch and listen how the western people in this documentary were so full off themselves, so much ego. Thinking, because they were disciples of Tulku Urgyen, they are better than others. Especially the part where Mr. Kretchmar told how other buddhist communities, who don't do it like he was taught, do it the wrong way made me angry, even though I'm not a buddhist.

He actually didn't say they did it the wrong way. He was just describing a difference in the practice and how the practices the student's of Tulku Urgyen - of directly engaging with all that arises rather than focusing on not engaging energies that are considered disruptive - was part of the reason that people perceived them (meaning the students of Tulku Urgyen) - to not be very peaceful, serene, harmonious or perhaps even "good" Buddhist practitioners because they DID seem to argue and exhibit the negative emotions many other practitioners of different Buddhists school value not displaying. I didn't hear him say they were wrong -- just that they were working with different methods that led to them working more directly with all the natural energies that arise within all humans in different ways.
