You do an excellent job of explaining the subject matter. I enjoy your clean-cut, traditional style of presenting the material. I may be wrong, I do not know you personally, but you seem like a good young man and apparently your parents did an excellent job of raising you and imparting civil and clean values upon you. Believe me, today to see a young man present this type of information without acting like a WWE lunatic is very nice and rare today on any platform. Relative to many others, you essentially stand alone and are a leader. At least that is the way this old Marine 'mustang' sees it. Okay, I will step down off my soapbox now. Thanks again.

Even though I have a sailing boat, I always pick a tip up from you. I have fixed 3 outboards and sold on. And now I know why my boat engine throttle could be stiff. Hello from the UK.

Glad I found this video. I have the exact motor. It shifts fine into forward and reverse. However when I accelerate in reverse it pops out of reverse and makes ratcheting sound.

Push or pull to open control boxes refers to the throttle operation not the shift operation.

bro I just learn two things. 1 siftshaft goes to the clutch, dawg. the other, if won't go into reverse it's your clutch, dawg. joking aside, great video learned alot.

i have a mercury opti that grinds when either shifting in forward and or neutral is that normal?
@zionmobile4 ай бұрын
I have a 2017 mercury 150 EFI and after I run it for a certain amount of time the throttle gets stuck in forward gear. It is so odd. I have to run for 20 or more minutes on plane before it won’t go back into neutral. If I run for 5-10 min no issues going in and out of forward and neutral. Any thoughts why this happens?
@zionmobile4 ай бұрын
If I hook it up to a hose I can shift effortlessly into reverse forward neutral with no issues. I can’t get it fixed since the mechanic can’t replicate the issue
@BornAgainBoatingАй бұрын
That's weird, but I would look at the shift shaft and stuff on the engine, something sounds like it is locking it in gear when in forward and loaded, if not loaded, (on land on a hose) there isn't the weight and force to lock it in place. But also maybe someting that is keeping the RPM up, hard to say, someone should be able to figure that out with some time looking at it :/

My throttle goes in and out of gear but it's very stiff when applying throttle any tips
@BornAgainBoating3 ай бұрын
Nothing outside of the video and taking the throttle cable off and checking that system just like the shift system :) try and move it with the cable disconnected : )

@BornAgainBoating thank you! Best boat channel by far! Love your content. Used the boat a lot today and it seems to be losening up. Might replace cables this fall. They are 10 years old now.
