the knuckle should have translation as well as rotation. The hierarchy bones below the knuckle just rotate on a single axis usually. Having flexible metacarple bones helps with hand poses as well.

when the handymand stands up on his hands, I would probably have the knees/elbows pointing backwards so it doesn't look like a goofy little gondola guy with large feet, but more preditorial almost like a velociraptor

The double parenting actually is a thing with "stretch to". I use it for cartoony rigs and bendy-bones :) (Just checked that real quick, it does work, you just need to adjust the head/tail parameter)

The problem with auto riggers is that they are expecting a T or A pose. Which is why the controler orientations are all wacky.

Sick series, looking forward to each new episode :) 2:50 Biped will keep the pelvis control straight and perpendicular to the ground. In Multi-ped the pelvis will be aligned with your reference bones, allowing you to have e.g. a horizontal spine (or any spine directions). That's the only difference I believe. 11:00 Using Sculpt symmetry, especially the smooth brush, breaks the real symmetry of the mesh. It's very annoying. You may be able to fix it using the Mesh > Snap to Symmetry operator in Edit Mode.

when you do the motion capture for that one, you should have nadya do it. im not sure if you did it non purpose but the main pose looks like a girl on her back with her legs up. treating the arms like legs and fluttering i think would give a very creepy effect. also if you're going to have it wal on it's hands then it makes sense to use legs for that. or it might be funny to see you guys try to walk around on your hands.
